Donya Franklin, LPC
About me
“Change the person in the mirror, and your world will change!”
Hello!
My name is Donya and my goal is to inspire hope; and assist clients to heal and change and be the best version of themselves. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I earned my Master’s in Clinical Counseling/Marriage and Family from University of Northern Colorado in May 2010. I have over fifteen years of experience in working with mental health, personal crisis, and relationships. I have worked with adolescents, adults, and groups of all ages on issues ranging from addiction, anger management, anxiety, depression, domestic violence, grief/loss, personal challenges, relationship issues, stress, trauma and many more.
I have worked in private practice, community settings, residential and outpatient settings of a Community Mental Health Center and a domestic violence facility. I would describe my approach to therapy as eclectic, drawing on a variety of modalities to best serve my client’s needs and goals. The modalities that have proven most useful are: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness-based Therapy, Person Centered Therapy; Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Systemic Therapy.
I believe therapy/counseling is a partnership and the most important aspect of the partnership is trust. I look forward to building a unique partnership with you, while gaining your trust. Taking the step to research and seek out a therapist is a very courageous step. I await with pleasure to work with you towards hope, healing, and change!

Finding Donya has been such a blessing! She is very easy to talk to, a great listener and so knowledgeable in family dynamics. In a matter of a few short weeks, she’s managed to shed so much light on my concerns and help me implement change in ways I did not think possible. I’m very excited to continue with Donya and only wish I’d started sooner.

Donya is extremely kind-hearted and supportive, while still being direct and honest (and encourages the same from her clients). She is very approachable and I felt comfortable sharing personal issues with her. I worked with her for over a year and felt that I made good progress on taking charge of my mental health.

Donya and I have been working together for almost 3 months and the amount of growth I've experienced in this timeframe has been incredible. Donya let me vent all my fears and problems & then brought me back to center to constructively formulate a way to work through each issue. She absolutely amazing and I am totally blessed to have worked with her!
