About me

Hello friend,

My name is Ed, a licensed therapist with over 3 years of professional work experience both online and in person. I help clients with anxiety and stress, depression, over-thinking and rumination, low motivation, jealousy-related issues, hurt, shame and guilt, as well as low self-worth, self-esteem, and self-confidence.

I believe in treating everyone with respect and compassion. I've had more than a few people say to me "you're gonna think I'm crazy" or "this will sound stupid". Trust me, you're not crazy and it never sounds stupid. The problems we humans go through, no matter how seemingly strange to us, are in fact more normal and regular than you may imagine. It's because they seem strange and scary to you that we don't want to address or talk about them through fear of judgement. Even so, wouldn't life just be better if we learned how to manage them with someone who's on your side.

I am the person who's here to listen with complete non-judgment and help you get through those problems and in time over them. Believe me when I say that like most psychotherapists I've been through my own journey of previous personal challenges (feel free to ask). So when I say "yeah, I get it" trust me, I get it.

My treatment approach primarily involves CBT using the REBT model (Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy). It's a talking therapy that explores and identifies one's irrational beliefs around a current problem/s and then works to change those beliefs to healthier/rational ones through the work we do together. I also practice and teach Mindfulness techniques to include mindful breathing exercises, meditations and how to keep on top of unwanted and obsessive thoughts. I also draw on other integrative therapies when necessary such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Assertiveness Training, Compassion Focused Therapy and Self-Talk. So, this isn't just counselling and validation. We work to change how our minds respond to things we don't like.

In order to be happy, it helps to learn how to not be unhappy, right?

Thank you for taking the time to read my profile. I hope I can be of help no matter your age, gender, background or personal beliefs. By being here it shows you've made the decision to heal from what you're experiencing and that means you've got the will to overcome your problem.

Stay awesome,

Ed
