Hello! I am a marriage and family therapist licensed in Georgia with experience working with individuals, couples, families, and groups. I have counseled a wide range of concerns including, but not limited to, depression, addiction, relationship issues, trauma, end of life, chronic illness, divorce, parenting problems, and sexual abuse.
Over the years, my clients have given consistent feedback that they appreciate my warm, accepting, and challenging personality. They also report that they value my ability to not only listen to their concerns, but also provide strategies and skills to overcome life's challenges. My approach is systemic, meaning that I believe no one person develops and matures in isolation. I value understanding a client's culture, family, past and present relationships, values, and beliefs. I combine several theoretical approaches, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, solutions focused therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and trauma focused therapy to develop a treatment plan to meet your unique needs.
I entered the field of counseling after experiencing the positive effects of therapy in my own personal life. I believe in what I do and I love helping other people. Taking action to find genuine happiness and problem solve takes courage. I celebrate with you for taking the first steps for a more fulfilling present and future. I am here to support and work with you.

Ellen is an excellent listener and can pin point things I needed to work on right away. She helped me tremendously without judgement, but was fair and honest with her evaluations and suggestions. She understands and gives examples of situations that were very helpful along with additional information I could read and work on outside of our sessions. I definitely recommend her!!!

Ms Thomas quickly identified things that I needed immediate help with and provided initial guidance effectively. She refrained from jumping into a course of action until gathering information that provided her with a sense of what would be most effective for me. She has been kind, empathetic and supportive. I have no doubt of her keeping my best interest foremost in mind.

Ellen Thomas is an experienced professional and compassionate counselor. I would recommend her for anyone who is dealing with the emotional trauma of a separation or divorce. She has often followed up a session with a pertinent quote or helpful suggestions. Ellen’s guidance has helped me to dig deep to become aware of emotional touch points and find solutions to work through them. Her genuine empathy made me feel comfortable very early in the process and was I able to open up to her pretty quickly. Am so grateful for the help I’ve received during my sessions with Ellen.

Ellen is great! I was worried about starting counseling because I don’t do well with talking to people but she’s been easy to talk to since day 1. She doesn’t judge, she listens, gives great advice and checks on me during the week. She’s understanding because of her own personal experiences, a lot of which are similar to my own. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone!
