About me

Emberlene Cossette is a licensed independent clinical social worker (LICSW) in the state of Washington. She has worked in the mental health field for over 10 years providing mental and behavioral health treatment. Emberlene holds a Master of Social Work from the University of Washington, Tacoma. She graduated from Saint Martin’s University with honors and earned a Bachelor’s in Psychology with a focus on ethics and war trauma. Her time as a social worker led her to work with immigrants, detainees, individuals with disabilities, and people of diverse ages, genders, ethnicities, and cultures.

She believes that mental health, like physical health, is a right rather than a privilege and recognizes the importance of living a life of quality.

"I practice with the belief that despite our perception of aloneness, the cosmos is inherent in all humans. Our being lies not only within ourselves but in others and the natural world. Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, states it more eloquently. "
‘The atoms of our bodies are traceable to stars that … exploded these enriched ingredients across our galaxy…. For this reason, we are biologically connected to every other living thing in the world. And we are atomically connected to all atoms in the universe. We are not figuratively, but literally stardust.'

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Emberlene "Ember" Cossette. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

definitely the most down-to-earth, genuine, and wonderfully relatable therapist i’ve ever had! she never cuts me off when i’m ranting, she’s very easy to talk to, and often it really feels like i’m talking with a good friend. she never hesitates to tell me that she’s proud of me, which is something i don’t hear often enough from other people in my life, myself included. she’s very nurturing and respectful, and she’s incredibly human in the best ways possible. i haven’t had many successful experiences with virtual therapy in the past, but i’m happy to say that emberlene has helped me rewrite that story. she constantly empowers, inspires, and encourages me to be my best self, and to not feel the need to apologize for having needs and emotions. i would recommend her to anyone who needs someone to relate to, and to anyone who is seeking a therapist who will make you feel effortlessly comfortable when others may fall short. i sincerely hope she’s reading this, so i can tell her how grateful i am for the changes she’s helped me make so far, over just a few short months. thank you again emberlene, i really appreciate you :)

Ember is kind, encouraging, informative, helpful, supportive, nonjudgmental, and truly listens. I have tried therapy a few times but dismissed it because the therapist had no interest in listening to me. They just put me in a box and went through the motions. Ember treats me like a real person that has real feelings and concerns. She has been an incredible asset to my healing.

Ember understands my anxiety problems and asks the right questions to find the best alternatives to solving them and work with a plan, the sessions have been very helpful, I strongly recommend Ember.

Finding the right fit with a therapist is so important and can be so difficult. Before starting therapy with Ember, I had experienced both good and bad fits with therapists and was nervous to jump back in after a previous bad fit with a provider—it’s frustrating when you spend time sharing your story with a therapist who ends up being a bad fit—for me it felt like wasted time and vulnerability. Ember was so receptive to my concerns and sensitive to my backstory and has provided a therapeutic space for me show up exactly as I am and where I am while feeling safe and supported. I’m very happy to have been matched with Ember and feel optimistic having her help as I work towards my goals in therapy.
