About me

My name is Ernest E. Garrett III, and I have 18 years of post-graduate MSW-level social work experience, within special education settings and the private practice setting. I am currently practicing full-time as a Deaf LCSW therapist/clinician in private practice, which is a dream come true, post-pandemic! I take pride in being able to communicate effectively with diverse clients from all walks of life. I received my M.S.W. degree from Gallaudet University, and I am licensed at the clinical level in Missouri, Wisconsin, the District of Columbia, Louisiana (Inactive Status), and Alabama, as well as pending applications for licensure status in a host of other states.

I regard myself a specialist in the provision of culturally sensitive and competent clinical social work services; I offer such services in a culturally affirmative and linguistically accessible environment; I render services with and on behalf of vulnerable and oppressed populations in general and disability populations in particular.

I highly commend Dr. Garrett, III for his exceptional cultural sensitivity and awareness, which makes communicating with him effortless and judgment-free. As a deaf individual, it's refreshing to find a therapist who not only understands my perspective but also communicates effectively in my language. Dr. Garrett's ability to connect with and understand people from diverse backgrounds is remarkable. My sessions with him, aimed at improving my social skills, have been incredibly beneficial. I confidently recommend Dr. Garrett to anyone seeking a compassionate and understanding therapist.

As a current patient of Dr. Garrett, I can say that he meets my needs of a therapist every session. He supports me and helps me think things out in ways that I need, and understands me based on our previous conversations and my experiences. He was been a crucial part of my healing and self-reflective process this past year. I would recommend him to anyone that is looking for a therapist and needs emotional support through whatever it may be.
