Thank you for taking the time out to view my profile. Finding the right therapist to meet your individual needs is a very important step and I am hopeful that I will be able to assist you. I find great passion in assisting my clients in meeting and surpassing their full potential.
After I obtained my Bachelors degree in Psychology, I continued my education and received a Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I am licensed in multiple states, a National Certified Counselor, a Certified Clinical Supervisor, and a Certified Clinical Telemental Health Provider. I have experience with working with individuals of all ages, ethnicities, races, religions, sexual orientations, and genders.
Although I use multiple counseling techniques (Narrative Therapy, Person-Centered, Solution Focused, etc) in order to meet my client's individual needs, my work with clients is primarily from a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy perspective. I believe that the connections between rationality and emotion as well as mind and body are essential in accomplishing behavioral change through logical thinking. Becoming more aware of damaging automatic thoughts and acquiring the ability to revise cognitions impacts one’s behaviors and ultimately may lead to positive change. In addition, I hold a great appreciation for the unconscious and the power it has over one’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. The intimate process of making the unconscious conscious is a fundamental step toward growth, development, and change. Being able to recognize how unresolved conflicts from the past influence the present and manifests in unhealthy cyclical patterns gives one the power and confidence to take control.
It is my belief that therapy is an intense, engaging, rewarding, and collaborative process. One of the main purposes of therapy is for one to gain a deeper understanding of self by exploring personal experiences, perspectives, and expectations. Regardless of the presenting issue, I provide my clients with a high level of respect, honesty, and genuineness. After successful completion of therapy, it is my hope that my clients will be able to incorporate what will be presented throughout therapy sessions into multiple life circumstances.

She is a great therapist. Always down to listen when I just need to talk. She makes me actually process the emotions I’m feeling at the time instead of just keeping them all bottled up. I know it’s always okay to get angry or even cry without being judged no matter how little or big the problem is.

Farah is the best! I was very nervous when I started therapy because it was my first time, but Farah has made sure that the experience has not only been educational but incredibly beneficial to me. She listens to understand rather than listening to respond, which has been helpful to me when working through some tougher issues. She tailors each session to what I need to focus on and she never tries to do more than I’m comfortable with. We always have fun in our sessions, which I did not know was possible with therapy.

Farah is the best! I don’t mean good, I mean the best! First, I am a therapist myself so when I was seeking a therapist I was kind of picky and tried a few others first. When I started working with Farah I was so impressed. She has a great ability to know when to listen and when to make a suggestion and her suggestions and interventions are spot on. She seems to genuinely care and you can tell she really puts her heart and soul into her work. She’s relatable and makes things feel comfortable and easy but is also efficient. I feel like I’ve made months of progress in just a few short weeks and found fresh motivation where I had been lacking for months if not years.

I reached a point in my life where it felt like I hit rock bottom. I was depressed due to losing my job and having issues with my loved ones. I felt stuck and I didn't know what to do to become better.
It was my first time ever enrolling in counseling, so I was very inexperienced with what to do. During my first interactions with Farah, I was feeling so many emotions that I could not process and figure out the root of my depression, so I typed out all the negative feelings I was experiencing, and all the issues and struggles I was going through. Farah was very patient and very understanding and she was able to organize everything that I was feeling and pinpoint the root of the problem. She was very reassuring that I will be okay and that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. She was there for me whenever my feelings were overwhelming.
Farah helped me get through a very dark and difficult time in my life. I am very thankful that she was there for me and was able to help me process and understand my emotions and help me figure out a way to move forward. Now I can happily say that I have overcome my depression and I feel reassured that Farah can help me out whenever I feel lost.
Although I have moved past my depression, I continue to be enrolled with Farah just to be prepared in case I face any more difficulties with my emotions.

Farah is really a great therapist. The first session I had with her, I immediately felt a connection. Her tone is very warm and she always listens to what I'm saying and helps me unpack things. I've been in therapy for a long time and she is definitely one of the best I've had. I have a really intense job and she is always patient with me on completing the homework and responding to her. I feel like I have a lot of great resources now to work with. One thing about BetterHelp is that the sessions are only 30 minutes so getting on the background information and forming a relationship takes a while in the beginning. However, Farah is really responsive when you message her.

Written on Aug 14, 2020 after therapy with Farah for 3 months on issues concerning depression, stress, anxiety, addictions, coping with life changes, and compassion fatigue
I first started working with Farah in mid to late January of this year, so roughly a month and a half before covid-19 really hit the U.S. I was already dealing with depression and anxiety at the time from what I could tell, and the pandemic has only made it worse, as I'm sure it has for others with similar struggles. To provide some context, this is only my second time working with a therapist. My first experience was lackluster and frustrating, as I'd already been adamantly opposed to therapy for myself in the first place. So when I was initially paired with Farah, I was still very skeptical in the beginning and my expectations, frankly, were not high. Since then, she's proved to be kind, consistent in checking in even when I'm not — during a pandemic at that — and genuine. Even more importantly though, through working with her, I feel like I'm finally able to start unpacking and trying to make sense of the negative experiences and issues I've had, but stifled and bottled up for years. She hasn't ever been judgmental, which was a general concern of mine with therapists, and she's actually helped me begin to understand the "why" behind my struggles. Not only that, but she also provides educational resources with both explanations of common struggles people may have/why they may have them and practical methods/strategies that can be used to help remedy them in addition to the therapy itself. Overall, being in therapy itself is still a mental/emotional adjustment for me, but I feel optimistic that with Farah's help, I'll come out better than when I entered it. Please don't hesitate to book a session with her — she's great and really works to ensure you're getting the most you want out of therapy. I daresay, you'll be glad you did.

Farah is completely non-judgmental, and has helped me discover some things about myself I didn't know. She's encouraging, and helps me achieve goals.
