About me

I am a professional counselor licensed in Missouri with thirteen years' combined experience in the mental health field. For the past 5 years I have worked almost exclusively with children and teens who have experienced abusive trauma, treating anger, depression, anxiety and PTSD symptoms that often accompany it. In addition, I have educated and supported adults in addiction recovery, survivors of domestic violence, and parents of traumatized children.

My counseling style is warm and collaborative. I believe in unconditional positive regard and a shared partnership in identifying treatment goals and steps to obtain them. I combine elements of CBT, EMDR, and DBT therapies as well as practical, mindful solutions that can easily be incorporated into our daily lives. Each client-counselor relationship is as unique as the people in them; as our conversation evolves, I will customize my approach to meet your individual needs. You are worth more than one-size-fits-all treatment.

Starting therapy with someone new can be daunting, whether it's your first time to counseling or not. I'm so glad you've decided to invest in your mental and emotional health, because YOU MATTER!

I look forward to getting to know you better. Please let me know if you have any questions and I will do my best to help you find the answers you seek.

Harriet has been a lifeline for me over the past couple of years. When I came to her originally I was struggling so badly that I thought I’d feel that way forever, but I’m happy to say that she proved me wrong. She stuck by me with endless patience and encouragement and never lost faith in me, even when I lost it in myself. I have no doubt that Harriet genuinely cares for her clients, she is a truly wonderful person who has the ability to make you smile during even your darkest moments. Her compassion and kindness towards me is something that I will be forever grateful for, as I wouldn’t be the person that I am today without her. She listens intently, never judges and has always been there to support me without fail. Meeting Harriet was the silver living to a bad situation as she has taught me lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. I would recommend her in a heartbeat, she is both a very special person and an incredibly gifted therapist.

She’s so wonderful. She’s able to listen to my ramblings about how I feel and then help me break them down into specific points to be discussed and worked on.

I've been with Harriet off and on for years now. My sessions with her have been invaluable in helping me better understand myself and the issues I struggle with. She gives me tools I can act on, a plethora of outside resources I can look into, and positive support when I'm feeling vulnerable. She's a fabulous therapist who genuinely cares for others. I highly recommend her to anyone who wants someone on their side who is both a great counselor and a wonderful human.

When I first started BetterHelp I was originally matched with a different counsellor and I felt like it wasn't the best fit. I decided to switch counsellors and ended up choosing Harriet. I'm so glad I did! Harriet is so kind and I feel like she actually listens. I would definitely recommend her!

In the time I have been working with Harriet I get the sense that she is listening carefully to me and understanding that I am struggling with many different aspects of life. She is taking the time to help me explore what's going on with worksheets and pointed questions, and giving me space to think and write in between sessions. This guidance is very useful and helps me to think more clearly about how I want to move forward with our sessions and, ultimately, with my life.
