Heather Alcala, LPC
About me
Greetings! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas with a combination of substance use treatment and individual and group therapy experience that I have gained over the past ten years. I have assisted individuals with addiction, depression, anxiety, anger, grief/loss, and self-love through this process. I have assisted individuals experiencing relief from past trauma and abuse while learning coping skills to help them navigate difficult situations and experiences.
You are an important part of the healing process. As part of the process, I believe in listening and assisting you in developing working solutions and addressing your needs while using an approach that works for you. Using modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Practices, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) may be some of the tools that will be used to help you on your path to healing. My goals are to treat you with respect and work with you at a pace that you feel comfortable with while providing support and encouragement and focusing on helping you get your needs met.
At times, we all struggle with what can feel like overwhelming stress, and having someone to help us gain perspective and clarity can be beneficial in reducing the distress that we experience. One of the hardest things is asking for help when we are hurting. I am willing to provide a relaxing and safe setting for you to receive the support you need to feel better while moving forward toward your goals. I look forward to being part of this process with you.
