Heather Harris, LCSW
About me
Hi, My name is Heather Harris and I have been working in the social work field for the last 19 years. I have been working specifically with the Veteran population for the past 14 years. I have extensive experience working with survivors of sexual assault and intimate partner violence. I have an undergraduate degree in social work from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, TX and received my master's in social work in 2004 from the University of Denver. I have experience working in an outpatient behavioral clinic providing therapy for diagnoses such as anxiety, depression, and PTSD. In my clinical practice I use skills from Acceptance and Commitment therapy(ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI). I have helped many clients with sexual assault trauma, domestic violence trauma, grief and loss, and moral injury and many other issues that have come up on my client's recovery journey.
I strive to make the therapy experience genuine, positive, respectful, and safe. Taking the first step to sign up for therapy takes courage and I am proud of you for getting started! I am excited to meet you and work together to identify your goals and make plans to achieve them!
