About me

Hello and Welcome!

I’m Hendrina Sterling, a dedicated Psychodynamic Counsellor, psychotherapist, and clinical hypnotherapist with over a decade of experience working within the National Health Service (NHS) in the UK, and more than six years as a self-development coach. I hold a BSc (Honours) in Psychology with Counselling, and advanced postgraduate qualifications in Psychological Therapy Practices, Therapeutic Counselling, and Hypnotherapy.

My approach to Psychodynamic Therapy focuses on helping clients build their internal resources to manage challenges independently. For instance, a client dealing with depression may explore how their current reactions are influenced by past experiences, enabling them to address issues with greater insight and resilience.

Please note that I do not offer Hypnotherapy or Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) through BetterHelp. Hypnotherapy involves inducing a state of focused awareness to address various conditions like anxiety, pain, and other issues. (MBCT) can be particularly effective for preventing relapse in individuals with major depressive disorder who have experienced multiple episodes of depression.

My areas of expertise cover a broad spectrum of issues, including stress, anxiety, trauma, abuse, motivation, problem-solving skills, fears and phobias, self-esteem, self-confidence, depression, grief, major life changes, and eating disorders. I also have significant experience supporting individuals with ADHD.

My therapeutic approach integrates traditional counselling and psychotherapy with innovative techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and hypnosis. Each session is customized to address your unique needs, ensuring a tailored and effective therapeutic experience.

Beyond my clinical practice, I am an accomplished author of therapeutic personal development workbooks and the founder of MindEmpowerTherapy.com, a platform dedicated to enhancing mental health and well-being.

My goal is to empower you to overcome challenges, build resilience, and lead a fulfilling, balanced life.

Hendrina has been very easy to talk to and I feel comfortable to express how I feel when talking to her. She has given me lots of advice and points to focus on, as well as exercises to do. I am happy I choose her as my therapist and would do again if I need her in the future.

I don’t think I have enough words to describe what of a new feeling Hendrina made me explore.
For the first time ever, a therapist could understand my concerns and adapted a personalized plan that suits me personally. it’s been only 3 sessions with her and the improvement and satisfaction I’m feeling is amazing.
She challenges me, she empathises, she guides, and she knows exactly what I need. She made me discover parts of me I was never aware of, and she was there to help me digest them. She made me believe that I can heal and create the life that I deserve no matter how strong my limiting beliefs are, I became so hopeful that change is possible if I believe in it and work towards it.
She is so great, I could never recommend her enough

After just three weeks of therapy with Hendrina I have seen incredible results! She not only knows exactly how to help me— she also knows how to find the core issues that have led to my current situation —nd fixing the roots has led to so much positive change in such a short amount of time! She is kind, and gentle, and creates a safe space where I feel comforted and supported and motivated to find and pursue all the changes I need to make to become a better version of myself. I would 100% recommend!
