I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of Georgia. I hold a doctorate in counselor education and supervision and a master’s degree in professional counseling. I have been working in mental health for over 15 years as a counselor, educator, and supervisor in a broad range of settings including community-based clinics, non-profit organizations, and private practice. I have taught in master’s level courses, facilitated educational and professional development workshops, and presented at national conferences.
I specialize in anxiety and panic disorders, anger management, substance use, and complex trauma. I have also lived abroad and understands the joys and complexities of being an ex-pat. As part of ethical disclosure of limits of scope of practice - and since these questions are often asked - I DO NOT have specialized training in borderline personality disorder, dissociative disorders/DID, OCD, ADHD/ADD, porn/sex addiction, or eating disorders. I have extensive experience working with the LGBTQ+ community, persons of color, and persons living with HIV. Using a combination of Adlerian, Feminist-Intersectional, and systems theoretical orientations, I take a direct, practical approach to assisting clients. Whether you are looking for skills to manage stress and related symptoms, support with assessing options in order to make important decisions, or you are ready to dive deep into change, I can help you to meet your goals. I typically respond to messages within 12 hours.
I believe that therapy requires active participation and commitment for progress to occur. While messaging can provide a base for information and updates to be shared, I expect clients to engage in live sessions (video or phone) on a regular basis. I offer text sessions on a limited basis. These regular sessions - 45 minutes at least every two weeks, preferably weekly - allow for direct interaction and communication for skill building to alleviate symptoms, identifying and addressing dysfunctional patterns, resolving trauma, etc.

Holly is great. She gave me multiple techniques for dealing with anxiety and stress. She works with expats and so has a very distinct perspective and method which works best for me but is applicable to anyone. I would highly recommend her.

Very openminded and down to earth. She offers techniques you can work on but doesnt promise results without consistency and hard work.

Dr. DeGrand is extremely perceptive, understanding, and supportive. She definitely picks up on what is going on with me and therefore what she says or provides for skills is exactly what I need to hear and do at the time.
She is very skillful at putting me at ease, giving me hope that I can succeed, and change the negative cycle I find myself in.
Where some therapy in my past has felt as overwhelming as the anxiety, Dr. DeGrand’s skills are incredibly quick and easy to “reach for” in all situations and places be it in a relaxed “home” atmosphere, a vehicle, or in an environment where there are other people ie store, someone’s home, etc. I appreciate that she makes implementing skills practical and “doable”.

Holly has been great. She's easy to talk to, has provided constructive thoughts on how to change my behaviors, and has helped me develop a plan to remove my own perceived need to drink. Talking with her each week helps me stick to my plan and make improvements.

Immensely experienced in many therapeutic modalities. I enlisted her help as I experienced a crippling onset of anxiety (for the first time in my life) which coincided with a period of grief, trauma and a major life transition. A deeply perceptive therapist, my therapy process with Holly had no shortage of 'aha moments'. Highly recommended.

Been with Dr. DeGrand for a couple months, and I adore her. She’s able to handle my squirrelly, ADHD brain and lets me just be myself. I have sooooo much I am trying to process in life, and she helps me keep it sorted when we talk. I also love seeing her kitties say hello, when they decide to pop into frame on our sessions. Thank you so much.

Dr. Degrand is a fantastic counselor! Thanks to her guidance and knowledge set, I've built a toolbox of coping skills to help me address my anxiety. I have been through several therapists and Dr. Degrand is the best. She has helped me get through moments of transition, moments of self-sabotage, depression, and more. She is understanding, funny, and honest. I feel truly lucky to have her with me on my mental wellness journey.

Dr DeGrand is a wonderful therapist. i have had so much personal growth since i started seeing her one year ago. she can explain the medical and physical side of mental illness which is so helpful for breaking out of continuous cycles and also keeps you from judging yourself too hard when you're tempted to repeat unhealthy habits.
she has a different approach from some therapists ive had,, she won't immediately dive into your trauma history. i encourage you to trust the process but don't be afraid to ask her why she's doing things the way she is. she is very open to explaining her methods and always willing to hear you out. i feel like im speaking with a (very educated) friend. cannot recommend her enough.

I have benefited immensely from my work with Dr. DeGrand (Holly). She immediately made me feel comfortable. I knew I was in good hands from the start! Dr. DeGrand is supportive, highly responsive, knowledgable, accessible, and very easy to connect with. She regularly suggests relevant material, asks the right questions at the right time, and is excellent at pointing out what needs to be talked about! Oh, she is masterful at connecting the dots! I really enjoyed talking with her. Her sense of humor helps a lot and her cats are always a nice addition to our talks. Dr. DeGrand definitely helped me cope with my life challenges and the changes I had to face. I already have and will continue to recommend her!

Dr. DeGrand has provided a great space for openness and honesty while I am working through a tough time in my life. She provides really clear tools that I've been able to use in between our talks. She also does an excellent job of not only providing this advise, but also explaining her reasoning and even the science behind her suggestions. Possibly most important, she listens to me and quickly gained an understanding of what my primary concerns were, and she has helped me keep focus on those concerns with realistic goals.

Holly (Dr. DeGrand) is a very empathic, calming and competent presence. She always made me feel cared for, and felt extremely present, both during our calls and also in between. Her greatest ability is definitely presence, and making you feel seen and heard, paraphrasing what you told her in a new way, which makes you realize what you’re actually trying to say. As of method I wasn’t a hundred percent sure, but that’s not always the most important and she made me feel that for the first time.
