I Abrams, LCSW
About me
I am a licensed clinical social worker in New York with over 10 years of experience working in a home hospice program. I earned a master of social work degree from Columbia University in New York. I work with patients and families with a wide range of concerns, such as anxiety, depression, grief and relationship issues. I truly want to know and understand you, and will listen to your story with heart and empathy. While validating your feelings and experiences, I am committed to treating you with respect in a warm, comfortable and non judgmental atmosphere.
My counseling style is warm, interactive, holistic and supportive as the client controls the pace and focus of our work. My approach combines person centered, cognitive behavioral therapies and motivational interviewing. Realizing that no two people are alike, I tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet the client's unique and specific needs.
It takes great courage to ask for help and it's where counseling begins. I honor your bravery and your decision to find your joy. I am dedicated to helping you when you are ready.

Leona has been an incredible therapist for me. I appreciate her approach being kind & warm yet direct. She has given me the courage I needed to be present in my life again and that has brought me so much joy. I’m so glad I changed my view on therapy because then I wouldn’t have been blessed to encounter Leona. I’ll recommend her to anyone!

Ms. Abrams is the first therapist that finally made me feel like I can improve my mental health. She is so loving, kind, and patient. She creates a warm, safe place that helps you open up. She is the best therapist I have had so far. With her guidance, I feel stronger, happier, and less defeated by my mental health struggles. Ms. Abrams is wonderful, would recommend her to everyone!

I Abrams is a wonderful therapist! She has helped me to work through my emotions and relationships with my family and significant other tremendously! She takes the time to really listen and she is nonjudgemental at all! My only wish is that she’d have more availability but she is great and generous by taking up so many clients. I highly recommend!

Leona listens and asks the right questions. She helped me through a very tough time and really saw me through other things I never talked to anyone about. I would highly recommend her and I miss our talks.
