I am a professional counselor licensed in the state of Missouri, with about seven years of experience, and over a decade and a half of experience working with addiction and mental health. I have worked with a range of clients, from children to elderly, who have come to me for a variety of issues, including anxiety and stress, depression, relationship issues, addiction, and lack of motivation.
There are times in our lives when we need a new vision and someone to help us create strategies to overcome old challenges and take life to the next level. Seeking this change can be a daunting task, but I am here to help support you in your success. My counseling style is rather eclectic, based in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, with strong influences from Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused techniques, and existential psychotherapy.
I look forward to working with you!

Having Ian’s support through my recent breakup has been extremely helpful. He has helped me define and uphold personal boundaries in relationships and has helped me to process my mom’s death and approach my anxiety without feeling scared about confronting the underlying trauma I’ve experienced. Ian has also been really helpful in helping me with parental struggles and support- as a single parent with teenage daughters it’s been really helpful to have him as a sounding board and to feel supported in my parenting decisions which can be such a challenge as a single parent. Ian has also been really great at encouraging me to spend time on myself and to work through momguilt so I can feel more like myself again without feeling guilty about it. In the beginning of therapy I wrote out all the things I wanted to work through in therapy and how it would feel if therapy was working and I can say 100% I feel like we’ve been able to address all of my concerns and that I feel so much better than I did before starting therapy. I’m way less anxious now and feel way more confident in myself and confident about life in general. I was in a pretty dark place and felt very alone and Ian has been such a blessing. I was a little skeptical that therapy would have such a big impact- but I’d been on the self-help journey for so long, I’m so glad I gave Better Help a shot and chose to get the support I can now see that I deserved. I love that Better Help makes it convenient for me to have virtual appointments and I feel like Ian’s support between appointments has made all the difference. I think traditional counseling in an office setting would have taken much, much longer to achieve what we have in such a short time. It’s been so worth the money.. which I was a little worried about at first. But I don’t regret it at all. This is an investment that will pay off for the rest of my life and my daughters’ lives.

Ian is a great counselor. He has been incredibly helpful through some tough and stressful times. We have done some really hard work coming to terms with identity, sexual orientation, and trauma. Through it all he has given me the space to speak freely in order to heal properly. He does a really good job of listening while also asking the right questions to help me discover the root of why I am feeling or acting the way I am, and when if I am being obstinate he has no problem shaking me out of it. If I have a particularly hard week or session Ian makes sure to check in to see how everything is going. Though I don't always respond it is very comforting to know I am working with someone that is taking my journey through my mental health as seriously as I am. I feel like I am a healthier and happier person because of Ian's help.

Ian is a very compassionate, understanding and uplifting counselor. He supports me when I begin to question my actions or my own good judgement and I have very much come to trust his judgement and advice in support of my own. Often times just in helping reinforce my choices in some of the toughest decisions I find myself having to make to improve my mental health and quality of life he is a thoroughly helpful guide. He helps me stay focused on the important and positive things that improve my experiences and keep me moving forward to close in on my goals. He also helps me analyze events that have caused me anxiety, stress, and/or grief. Reminding me of what is in my control, validating my emotional responses regarding those events, and advising or helping guide me with practices to manage/cope and proceed forward towards the outcomes that most significantly support my desired direction. He works together with me, evaluating and discussing potential benefits and pitfalls alike so that I am making more informed and well thought out decisions for myself. I have truly come to find his advice invaluable and I am constantly telling him how much I genuinely appreciate it as we wrap up our sessions. You're awesome Ian! Keep rockin it!

I've never felt the need to be dishonest with my therapist. I was worried I would. But the level of comfort he had to offer, even from the first message, quickly dissolved those feelings. The chat option has been wonderful! Even if I'm not speaking directly to him at that moment, it helps to know things are off my chest. And I also know he'll get the message and know exactly how to respond to ease the feeling of doubt. He's helped me to remind myself that I'm important and worth the work it's going to take to get back to me. It's been nothing short of liberating.
