Jackie Potts-Powell, LPC
About me
I am licensed in Louisiana and Texas with 20 years of professional work experience. I have a Master of Education Degree in Community Counseling from The University of Louisiana at Monroe. I hold Louisiana license number 2935 as a Licensed Professional Counselor, Louisiana license number 858 as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Texas license number 77206 as a Licensed Professional Counselor. I am a Board Approved Supervisor of Provisional Licensed Professional Counselors (PLPCs) in Louisiana. I also hold Teletherapy Privilege.
I approach counseling from a present focused and ecological perspective. I encourage clients to work towards self-awareness, being action and strength oriented in order to have the capacity to find within themselves the resources necessary to solve their problems and to discover the conditions that will make change possible. I accept a client’s immediate family relationships and larger social context as being important resources in solving life’s problems.
I assist individuals in increasing their self-awareness through active techniques. Techniques that I often employ are instruction and modeling of communication skills, family role-playing, empty chair, fantasy work and between session interactive assignments. This “homework” is a vital part of the therapeutic process. The completion of homework is necessary if the client is to get the most from the therapeutic experience.
I have experience working with adults who are experiencing difficulties in life that may include also having a mental health diagnosis.
I believe that you are the expert of your story and that you have many strengths that will assist you in overcoming things that challenge you. Taking the first step to sign up for therapy can take courage and I am proud of you for getting started!

Jackie is very personable. I have only had 2 sessions and it feels natural when discussing my matters with her. She provides a space where I feel comfortable sharing. I look forward to my growth as we navigate through each session .

Ms. Jackie is amazing, I have not been seeing her for very long but I feel like I’ve known her forever. She is so kind and welcoming.

Honestly, I am very grateful for Jackie! I was very hesitant to even start therapy, especially with it being online. I was worried it wouldn’t feel the same as having therapy in person but I just didn’t have the time during the day to go in person. But I am very glad I did start here, Jackie has been nothing but helpful and supportive!! She is very good at what she does and she offers such good hours for people like me who are busy during the day and need sessions available after hours. It’s only been 3 weeks and I’ve already felt such an improvement with only 3 sessions (even from the first one if I’m being honest). I am now recommending BetterHelp to my other friends as well. I truly am grateful for Jackie :)

I am so grateful to work with Jackie. From the very first session, it was clear that she has incredible expertise and a deep understanding of the challenges I’ve been facing. She is an amazing match for me, and I always feel seen and understood. What stands out the most is her ability to relate to me on a personal level while offering different perspectives that have been incredibly helpful in shifting my thinking.
She is not only skilled at offering insight, but also at providing practical guidance that I can apply to my everyday life. Her approach is compassionate yet insightful, and I always leave our sessions feeling clearer and more empowered. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a therapist who can provide both understanding and real, actionable guidance.

Attending therapy has been the best thing I could have done for myself, especially having a therapist as Mrs Jackie who is compassionate but real. Knowing and accepting I needed help was a big step for me. After talking to Mrs Jackie the first time
I knew I made the right decision.
