About me

Hello, I am Jacqueline Awe . I grew up in Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean and I have lived in the United States as a citizen for the past twenty-three years. I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and master addiction counselor (MAC). I work as a supervisor in higher education [Student Affairs] and oversee counseling, disability, health, and prevention services. I am the coordinator of a program that supports students who age out of foster care and those who identify as homeless. Outside of this role, I do domestic violence and substance abuse assessments and counseling with adults with various life issues. I am also a mother, wife, sister, godmother, supervisor, friend, volunteer, and many other roles that I enjoy.
I decided to pursue this profession after failing miserably at insurance sales. I realized that I enjoy helping people in a social context and not in sales. While volunteering, I observed a professional who was helping children and their families, and it imprinted on me. I followed that profession and never looked back. I empathize readily, and I intentionally choose to view people through the lens of integrity and worth. I use a strengths perspective in my work, and I enjoy finding the hero in your stories, and re-introducing you to him/her. I believe in client empowerment, so I do not tell you the answers but instead I work with you to explore options and assist you in selecting what would work best for your wellness.

* * My schedule: I practice from 8 a.m. to 6p.m, during the week, so my availability is evenings and Saturdays. My schedule is ideal for the traditional hour working person who would prefer a therapist when they wind down in the evening or are available on weekends * * *

I believe in giving people more mercy and less judgment. My goal is to be helpful and support you through this current season in your life. I wish you only good!

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Jacqueline Awe. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

Jacqueline is so personable, insightful & in some magical way "gets" me via a video session! I know listening is a big part of being a good therapist & she certainly has that skill nailed because her advice, suggested articles, responses to my frequent (non-cogent) questions (aka: worry) are spot on! I am so happy to have found her!

I love Jacqueline! She is so caring and so easy to talk to. I was so hesitant to start therapy for a long time and I am so glad I got matched with her. She specializes in the areas I’ve struggled with and has truly helped me get to a better place.

Jacqueline has helped me change my life. I feel like I'm a completely different person since working with her. My mindset has completely changed since our first session. She's always so warm and welcoming and always comes to session with a smile on her face.
