Jalisa Lewis, LCSW
About me
My name is Jalisa and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over five years of experience providing therapy services. I have worked in a wide range of therapeutic settings to include: inpatient psychiatric hospital, residential behavioral treatment facility, a medical hospital (working within a pediatric intensive care unit), as well as within higher education. I have experience working with clients affected by depression, anxiety, substance use, trauma and relationship challenges from individual, group and family work.
While I use a variety of therapeutic modalities, my approach is extremely client centered. I believe that you, the client, are the experts on your life and determine the direction and depth of therapy. Through a strengths-based and solutions-focused lens, I draw on multiple treatment modalities to guide clients in identifying strengths and developing treatment plans that accomplish their goals. Through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I assist clients in exploring relationships among thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to aid in discovering dysfunctional thought patterns leading to self-destructive behaviors and beliefs. I am also trained in the evidence based model of Functional Family Therapy (FFT) where I view the entire family unit as the identified client, working to engage and motivate, facilitate behavior change, and generalize the skills learned to areas outside of the home.
I do not take it lightly that you have chosen me to support you during what may be a challenging time in your life. My hope is to aid you in living a more empowered and peaceful life!
My areas of interest include racial equality and ethnic diversity, women's empowerment, and the relationship between physical/mental wellness.

Dr. Lewis is an amazing therapist who has supported me through some rough transitions. I highly recommend, and matter of fact, I have been recommending to several people who also are in need of mental health services. Thank you for everything Dr. Jalisa Lewis!

I have only had one other therapist who could tune into me as well as Jalisa, and both are social workers. That means something. Jalisa KNOWS me and has/is tuning in to me so well which I think helps with her treatment decisions. She's not a "hard ass" to say the least but just that someone can "dial into me" makes me more motivated to do things in a smarter way and to find ways to deal with my *freaked up" life in more effective ways than I have in...well, since I was 5. I'm 53 now. I highly recommend her but you better not all line up and squeeze me out of her care! That is a big joke, please, no offenses.

Jalisa is fantastic—I wish all my friends could have her as an influence in their lives like she is in mine!

Ms. Lewis is a godsend I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better therapist. Talking with her feels like you’re chatting with a best friend. She is so encouraging and validating! I can’t say enough good things about her honestly.

Jalisa is an excellent, skilled LCSW. She is kind and easy to talk to, it was great to have her support during a difficult time in my life. I know that the skills and tools she shared with me to address anxiety are things I will use for many years to come.

Jalisa is a great listener & offers ways in which I need to cope with stress. She identifies & focuses on what I need to work on and makes it very easy for me to open up and share my feelings & issues. I feel a sense of safety emotionally and understanding during our sessions.
