I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Florida. My professional specialty has primarily been centered on addressing chronic anxiety, depression, substance use, familial dysfunction, and family of origin issues. As many situations present in client's lives are manifestations of their upbringing, acknowledging these issues early in the clinical relationship can assist with quickly assessing Narratives that support maladaptive beliefs. Often (but not always) unwanted behaviors and coping strategies are created early in the lifespan; I quickly help identify maladaptive reactions to daily stressors that are centered in potentially dysfunctional childhood relationships. I assist my clients utilizing a Solution Focused, Strengths based perspective which creates an atmosphere of understanding and identification during sessions. My work with my clients has assisted many people realize their true potential and increase their ability to successfully manifest desired outcomes relating to symptom reduction, motivational engagement increases, and greater productivity in their lives. I have experience using Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, other Cognitive Behavioral Therapies, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, Structural Family Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and increasing Spiritual Fulfillment through Mindfulness Practices.

James is very thoughtful and puts a lot of effort into our sessions. He re reads notes before our sessions so we can continue to work on things, he makes sure I am scheduled out so we don't miss a session and he writes a weekly message with a quote or question to make us think. He responds quickly and lets me know every week his availability and when to expect him not to answer. In just two sessions he has helped me see things in a different perspective and I am very grateful.

James does such a wonderful job at finding and pointing out things I can’t see in myself. James is helpful and listens. He uses his training and experience to provide customized therapy that works for my individual needs. I know I need a stern and authoritative figure to help me. I communicated this and he adapted his technique to crate an environment that will hopefully be successful for me and my needs.

I didn’t want to do therapy but I knew after my fathers passing that I needed tools and guidance that I did not have. Jim has provided that and so much more during our sessions and chats and I can’t be more thankful. Even when I try to get out of answering a question I am uncomfortable answering Jim finds a way of easing the pressure and getting me to answer. I’m appreciative of everything he has done!!

I’ve turned down the opportunity to write a review previously because I wanted to get to know him. Over time I’ve came to conclusion he’s both a great counselor and just a cool person in general. His approach is very laid back which made me comfortable In sharing things about myself. He has a sense of humor which I appreciated, but also knew when to keep serious. He always helped come to solutions or figure out a better way of thinking about things. James is a wonderful counselor and I’m thankful for my time with him.
