About me
I was born and raised in Houston, TX and attended undergraduate and graduate school at Texas State University in San Marcos. I graduated with my bachelor's in family consumer sciences (with a minor in nutrition) in 2014 and my master's in social work in 2017, at which point I moved back to Houston and began working as a social worker in the Texas Medical Center. After about 2 years of inpatient acute social work, I took a job with a hospice agency in order to get a fresh outlook on social work and have a chance to work with a diverse group of clients. I continued to work hospice for about a year, at which point I took another job at a Houston hospital, in which I worked as a social worker in the ICU (and eventually, the COVID ICU). I was then presented with the opportunity to provide social work services in a PT/OT hospital, and from there I transitioned to providing clinical therapy virtually out of my home.
In addition, I am an active duty member of the United States Air Force and have experience in assisting clients with the unique challenges presented by serving or having a relationship with someone who has ties to the military.
As a licensed clinical social worker, I specialize in assisting people with anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, disorders related to trauma, coping with illnesses/injuries, making healthy living choices, and interpersonal relationships. I am a firm believer in the idea that everyone has the capacity to make positive changes in their lives, and I enjoy helping people find ways to use their own strengths to improve their psychological functioning.
