My name is Jane Meyers, and I am an LCSW-R from Upstate NY. I am 48 years old, have three children (adult). I have been interested in psychology and anything to do with human behavior for as long as I can remember. My first Associate's Degree was from a local community college, and from there I finished my bachelor's degree through an online state university program. I received my Master of Social Work Degree from Marywood University.
I have practice privately on the side, largely to broaden my range of experience with different populations and modalities of therapy. Jane has been my therapist for over 4 months now, and I've found her to be warm, non-judgemental, encouraging and constructive. I've been working with Jane since last April. I had never really dealt with any sort of real anxiety before and, as the world was shutting down due to COVID, I was also very sick with another issue. The stress of not being able to walk, being bedridden, the pandemic, and the incessant 24 hours a day of sirens in NYC just took me beyond a brink. My wife had used Betterhelp (or other services) for years and she recommended I talk to someone about what I was dealing with.
At the time I was having debilitating anxiety attacks that made me feel like I couldn't breath, as if I was having heart-related issues (ultimately sending me to see a cardiologist multiple times), and even resulted in us having to call 911 one evening because I felt like my throat was closing up. Jane worked very closely with me on methods for managing my anxiety with various exercises and processes. She also encouraged me to spend time considering the things that do and don't work for me during my periods of anxiety and to recall those when I am having another attack.
Over the last 10 months, I've progressively gotten better and better and she and I have actually moved on to talk about other things including my marriage and issues with my family. All the while she has been a really great listener, always provides constructive and helpful feedback and gives me good perspectives to consider. I'm sure that one way or another I would have come through the pandemic either way, but I don't think that I would be in the place that I am now without having Jane be there for me throughout the worst of times. I am very grateful for her help and talks over the better part of the last year and I cannot recommend her highly enough.

Jane has really helped me the past few weeks. When I first came to her, I felt really, really alone and like I didn't have anyone who would understand me. But Jane is always there to listen. She's given me a lot of techniques to deal with my anxiety and depression. I feel much better after our sessions and like I know what to focus on next.

Jane offers very quick and attentive advice and keeps up with me, even when I get into the habit of not responding or when I become secluded. She also offers a variety of tools and means of communication so that we can continue making progress.

I cannot recommend Jane more highly. As a professional seeking counseling with too much on my plate already, Jane has been exactly what I needed in form and substance. From helping me find perspective as I navigate a new marriage, job, and home, to checking my BS habits that were holding me back, all with the flexibility of the BetterHelp platform. If it were not for Jane and this system I never would have gotten the consistent, responsive help I desperately needed to make real change.

So far, Jane has been exceptionally helpful in empowering me to understand my anxiety and how to begin addressing it. There's a lot of work to do, but I know that I will get better at it. She listens/ reads carefully and responds in kind. It's fantastic to have a partner/ coach like Jane in this. I look forward to my continued emotional growth with her guidance.

Jane is a fantastic therapist. She is extremely knowledgeable, easy to talk to, and clearly very passionate about helping others. I felt comfortable talking about difficult topics with her, and her open minded attitude really made me feel a lot less weird about my anxiety and OCD. Thank you for working with me, Jane!

Jane is sooo nice! She's super knowledgeable in various aspects, and what she doesn't know she will do research on, just for me! She takes time to understand what she needs to, and really offers herself to me in every way.
