Janelle Butler, LMHC
About me
Hello!
My name is Janelle and began my career working as a mental health counselor in the greater Seattle area for 5 years and am now practicing out of the East Coast but still serving the Washington area and beyond. I have mainly worked in community mental health , which means I have had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of ages, backgrounds, and presenting issues. I have found many people have become quite adept at avoiding emotional pain. These feelings can swirl around inside us and can deteriorate our physical and mental state over time. My goal is to help you isolate these negative patterns and beliefs, and then either change them into positive growth experiences, or alter the way they’re perceived. While this may result in immediate relief, lasting relief takes both time and effort.
I have also found that hope is one of the most crucial driving factor that can get us through grief, loss and emotional pain. But when you begin to lose hope, and despair sets in, it can be difficult to find your way back to happiness. I look forward to helping you identify and overcome your emotional turmoil. I’ll provide the comfort, support and experience you need to assist you in better understanding your struggles and find peace of mind.
I have found success through several therapeutic approaches some including; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I look forward to working with you!

To put it shortly, she has been amazing!! I wish I started sooner and got help sooner, I've changed so much for the better since starting counseling. Its all thanks to Mrs. Butler, she has helped me through a lot and I look forward to continuing this jounery with her!! She listens when I need her to and helps me to get through things on my own opposed to just fixing it for me and helping me to gain the skills I need to set boundaries and stick with them. Thank you, so much.

Janelle Butler listens without judgement. Her manner of speak is gentle and encouraging, while maintaining an honest demeanor, even if the subjects being discussed are difficult. I find myself coming to my own conclusions after speaking with her because she helps me organize my thoughts and feelings in a logical and caring way. Tbh I left her service for a few months because I thought I had it on my own, but now I’m back because she really does center me in uncertain times. I very much appreciate her wisdom and feedback.

Amazing counselor. She saved my life saving me from severe trauma induced psychosis caused by abusive family, therapists, and friends. I am now doing so much better and healing so much more. Thank you Janelle.
