I am a clinical social worker licensed in Arizona with over 15 years of professional experience in therapy. Since I was a teenager, I have always wanted to work in a helping profession. I have had the benefit of attending a terrific Master's program in Social Work at Temple University. However, the people I have served along the way have been my greatest teachers in the quest for positive change in all our lives. The beginning years of my career were hands on with women's issues, substance abuse, hospice, community, and inpatient mental health as a mental health technician. I have also worked in a group home for developmentally delayed adults. Once I earned my clinical license, I provided individual and group counseling for adults focused on the wide range of human experiences. I have worked as a Clinical Director, Clinical Supervisor, and Therapist with adults of all ages. Over ten years have passed since my clinical licensing and I have enjoyed every one of my job experiences working one on one with people.
As unique individuals entering a counseling alliance, beginning the therapy process is always a new adventure. I have been taught that the most important aspect of therapy is the relationship we find together. I often utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Positive Psychology, and Reality based treatments, and I like to assign constructive homework between ongoing sessions.
The world-renowned psychologist Dr. Carl Rogers suggested providing unconditional, positive regard when establishing the counseling relationship. In every new therapy alliance, I try to emulate his humanistic approach. Overall, my expertise lies in mental health and substance abuse counseling. I really enjoy positive psychology and I am told that I am caring, loving, and genuine. We are all in a new age, grappling with old and new issues. I would enjoy meeting you and working with you to move forward in a healthy way.

Janet has helped me tremendously over the last few months. Her approach of CBT has changed my life. She is very kind and understanding in every situation. You will never feel judged for the problems you might think are strange or wrong. She has so much wisdom but will never talk your ear off. She will let you run the conversation while looking for ways to change your perspective. She gives a lot of validation and will recognize when you are too hard on yourself and help you change your way of looking at it. She gives homework assignments that allow you to reflect and work through in your next session. But, she also understands that you have a life and doesn’t give assignments every session. She is an amazing woman and I am honored to have her as my therapist. I feel I have worked through my worst anxieties and depressions and now we are able to work on self-improvement and goal setting. I would recommend her to anyone dealing with anxiety and depression.

I’ve only had one session with Janet so far, but she has helped me tremendously. She provides me with homework to apply between sessions and she’s very open. She doesn’t judge, she tries to really listen to your personal experience without projecting, and within the one session she made me more aware of a few of my habits. I would 100% recommend her for people who struggle with anxiety, panic, ocd or perfectionism. She’s a fantastic therapist and lovely person.

Janet is so sweet and creates ways for me to understand things that I don’t clearly see and creates a path for me to understand things. I also love the homework she provides me and how she responds throughout the week and checks in with me. I also write in my journal and she makes little comments about the things I write and it helps me remember the things I want to review with her

She doesn't assume that she understands what I am saying, she rephrases and then clarifies that it's what I meant or that she's on the correct path. I struggle to explain my thoughts and she's very patient and is great at unraveling what it is I am saying. She offers methods outside of our sessions such as workshops or books that are very informative.
