Janine Hodge, BACP
About me
I am licensed in the UK with 5 years experience as an Integrative Therapist, (CPCAB Level 5) Counselling Lecturer, Clinical Supervisor and Therapeutic-Coach.
I help people who are experiencing anxiety and depression due to a fear of expressing the true version of themselves. My approach is embedded in Self Actualising Personality Theory, Attachment Theory, Transactional Analysis and CBT.
Often, our mental health is dramatically effected when we don't 'mind the gap'. That's the gap between how we are showing up now and how we would truly desire to show up if we could.
For many of us there can be a huge gap in this mis-aligned way of living. A gap big enough to host a wide range of fears, leading to self-criticism and comparison, judgement, not good enough self talk, low self esteem, confidence and self belief, overthinking and catastrophizing, a negative mindset, not to mention feeling lonely and empty.
When we don't mind the gap, our boundaries can be weak, we can feel insignificant, disempowered, out of control and more worryingly, we may wonder what's the point in it all or what on earth is our purpose.
When we don't mind the gap, we are not living as our true authentic selves that we were born to be and that creates a disturbance and a disconnection with our true sense of identity.
Society, culture and family units all play a part in throwing us off our path of authentic living and alignment. When we experience, trauma, abandonment, rejection, betrayal, bullying, co-dependency or caregivers who lack the capacity to truly see us, hear us and meet our needs, we dim our light and make ourselves smaller, or we rebel and act out. Either way, we adapt and cope and our true self expression gets lost in the void of that gap.
I help people to close that gap. I empower clients on a journey of self discovery to reclaim their authenticity and alignment, resilience confidence and a soul-led energy that enables them to access positive mental health, wellness, change and the ability to live with purpose and fulfilment.
This can often require exploring current symptoms, thought and behaviour patterns and identifying how they were set up.
From here we can identify what patterns need to change to be able to align with your core beliefs and values and feel a positive sense of wellbeing, and a healthy relationship with yourself and your relationships.
Here we can also heal those trauma and childhood wounds so that trauma responses do not keep showing up in your present everyday life.
I will help you explore your sense of self and gain the understanding and knowledge to be able to integrate new thought, behaviour and/or response patterns that work much better for you and your emotional wellbeing. An update and reboot of your own systems software if you like.
As an integrative therapist I can blend different counselling approaches that can be tailored to fit your individual needs. It's a minefield out there, with counselling jargon and the variety of approaches, so I would be more than happy to discuss further how what I offer, can work for you. Please do not hesitate to contact me to find out more.
Taking the first step to seeking a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage and I am so excited to have the opportunity to support you on your journey. I look forward to offering you the support and guidance you are looking for. Support that works for you at your pace within a calm and safe space.
I look forward to hearing from you,
Warmly,
Janine
