Jeannette Mason, BACP
About me
Hi Welcome to my profile. I know it takes a great deal of courage to look for a therapist. Having counselling or psychotherapy is a big step towards feeling better, and making sense of why things are the way they are. Whether you are suffering from anxiety, generalized anxiety, depression, low self esteem or lack of confidence, or relational difficulties I can help. I also have a particular interest in working with individuals who have experienced trauma. I am a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor trained in psychotherapy and counselling and I am a registered member of MBACP and work confidentially within their ethical framework. I have a level 7 Post Graduate level Diploma in Transactional Analysis from an Integrative Perspective.
I work empathically and in a non judgemental way, giving a safe space for you and I to explore together how you are feeling and how it impacts you today. With all the disruption to normal life during the pandemic, many people find themselves struggling, whether it is from the direct result of Covid, facing illness or death of loved ones, stress, long Covid, or indirectly through social isolation and the anxiety the disease has provoked.
I am trained in Transactional Analysis and Integrative Psychotherapy, the former looks at the ego states of different transactions and can be hugely helpful in navigating difficult or challenging relationships. Integrative psychotherapy goes a bit deeper looking at why we are the way we are, and why we suffer in the way we do. Making sense of things can really help us to move forward too. Building a sense of self and positive self esteem where that is lacking. Many people go through traumatic experiences growing up or in adult life and talking to someone about it can help to put it to rest. Perhaps the family you grew up in didn't talk about emotions and feelings and this can leave one unable to make sense of one's feelings, feeling emotionally numb or confused by turbulent feelings that seem out of control. Feelings need expression and understanding, and can be explored in a safe way through therapy. My practice is informed by neurobiological research, which is a particular interest.
My background is in General Nursing. I really enjoy helping people to have a greater sense of well being and quality of life, discovering who they are and what they want from life and how to heal from and cope with mental distress, which is sometimes derived from physical illness as well.
The first session will be an opportunity for us to meet one another and to think together about what you need from therapy, also for you to see if I am a good "fit" for you. I am open to work short or long term.

Jeanette is a deeply empathic and insightful therapist. I get the sense that she understands. I enter sessions feeling soothed instantly by her calming voice and the space she holds for me to speak and vent. I am also grateful for the safe space she provides when I feel the need to send a voice note between sessions. It’s teaching me that my feelings matter and how to express in as unfiltered a way as possible. This is my first time truly commuting to doing therapy regularly in a serious way and I’m grateful to Jeanette for her healing work.
