About me

When you're tired or hurting and want to make some healthy changes, we need to talk. One of the comments I often hear from clients is "You make me think!" as they find new ways of dealing with their problems.

Hello, I'm Jeffrey. I'm a licensed therapist who's spent 40+ years helping people through their toughest challenges. My work has been in a variety of settings including in-patient hospitals, halfway houses, homeless shelters, school counseling offices, college classrooms, church counseling, foster care homes and outpatient clinics. Those experiences give me a broad and deep perspective on the struggles people go through.

In my own life, having grown up in a blended family, I am personally familiar with all the drama that brings. I have been married for over 35 years to the same woman and have three wonderful sons, who were homeschooled. We have also provided care for a parent with dementia. These experiences give me insights and understanding into the challenges families and individuals face.

I make extensive use of psychodynamic techniques and cognitive behavioral therapy approaches. From grief, guilt, difficulty coping and relationship issues, to recovering from infidelity and addiction- if you're looking for help with your struggles like these, I want to talk with you first!

I have always been passionate about helping people with the challenges they face in life. I want to see you succeed and improve your life. I've worked with clients across a wide range of concerns including low self-esteem, discouragement, relationship issues, codependency, recovering from infidelity and addiction but also career challenges or caregiving for elderly parents. There are times you may feel overwhelmed and unable to handle things on your terms - that's when it can be helpful to learn new ways of handling them! Reach out today if any of these topics resonate for you; there is hope available here at my practice now more than ever before!

I am committed to providing compassionate care tailored specifically around each individual's needs while working collaboratively as partners toward addressing their goals together. Whether it's addiction, enabling, communication, relationship, or depression-related issues, working together will help you through them.

I aim to provide a safe, supportive place where you can be yourself and work on your goals. I listen carefully to clients, take the time needed to understand their situation, and develop thoughtful ways of helping them address what they need in their lives. I believe that everyone has untapped strengths that can help them recover from difficulties or achieve the goals of their life.

I am also a Certified Mental Health & Nutrition Clinical Specialist (CMNCS) and Farm Response Certified.

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Jeffrey Murrah. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

Jeffrey Murrah has been very helpful along my path of recovery from childhood trauma. I would highly recommend Jeffrey Murrah for anyone dealing with a narcissistic parent.

Jeffrey Murrah has help me more in 3 sessions than my last couple of therapists have in a year and a half's time. I find it very beneficial that he periodically stops the conversation to address issues in real time, rather than waiting until the last few minutes of the session to provide generic feedback on everything I have said. The feedback is honest and meaningful. I love the "homework" and follow up advice that is provided.

Jeffrey is the real deal. He helped me so much by providing a safe space to explore my thoughts and patterns. My mental health has improved greatly. My relationships have improved. I recommend his wise counsel to anyone thinking about counseling.

Jeffrey (I call him Jeff) has extensive experience in counseling. I can tell from the ease he displays while considering what I've just handed him in a session. He's also compassionate in his understanding, so whatever comes to mind for me during a session elicits a helpful response. I've just learned he writes his own background materials, what we might call hand-outs. I feel we've developed a rapport and he's earned my trust even after just a few sessions.
