Hi, my name is Jeff Owen. I support your decision to reach out for help, and I welcome the opportunity to partner with you in overcoming your current challenges. As difficult as these may be, my experiences over the years strengthen my confidence in the very significant accomplishments we may be able to achieve together.
I am an independently Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in the state of Ohio, with a graduate degree in Mental Health Counseling, and over 40 years of experience working with a broad spectrum of client concerns. My earliest professional experiences involved helping Vietnam combat veterans cope with severe, post-traumatic stress. In the years since, I have worked almost exclusively with adults between eighteen and eighty-five, grappling with a broad range of emotional difficulties, including depression, anxiety, grief and loss, addiction recovery and relapse issues, difficult “life-stage” transitions, LGBTQ+ issues, geriatric concerns, and emotional, physical, and sexual trauma. Excited and encouraged by published documentation of effective work being done with trauma survivors and others by practitioners of regression therapy in the 1980s, I studied and received certification in clinical hypnotherapy in1992. Since then, I have enjoyed considerable success applying those techniques with carefully screened sufferers from trauma-related problems.
My highest personal priority, and the foundation of all my therapeutic work, continues to be the creation of a safe, reliably supportive, healing space in which the client experiences unequivocal respect and unconditional acceptance. To that end, I believe an active dialogue, involving maximum therapist participation and authenticity, is essential from the outset. Once rapport has been established, I allow our ongoing interactions to build and strengthen our alliance, while confronting and systematically tackling obstacles to the attainment of more specific goals. As my personal style has evolved, I have become increasingly cognitive and didactic in my interventions, as it's been my experience that people report feeling most empowered when they understand the nature and implications of their difficulties. My approach is thoroughly grounded in humanistic philosophy and reflects the significant influences of Eriksonian and Jungian views on human development. Beyond that, in actual practice, I am eclectic, pragmatic, and flexible. Further, my recent decade of work with people in extreme crisis has prompted me to become increasingly trauma-focused and creative in combining cognitive-behavioral approaches with other modalities, as each client's unique needs demand.
I know you wouldn't be here if it weren't for your considerable distress, but, even so, I sincerely believe it takes a great deal of courage to risk venturing outside your customary zone of familiarity and safety, to both seek relief and take the first steps of change toward a more fulfilling life. If you are ready to take those steps I am here to support and empower you.

My experience with Jeff has been very beneficial. I feel heard and understood. He is adept at understanding my situation as a child of a narcissist. His communication is validating and informative, helping me to grasp the affects of this and giving me tools to cope and grow.

Mr. Owen is a very kind gentleman, and he allows you to talk without judgement. Asks non-leading questions to help workout what you’re going through which also helps one work through it themselves. He also genuinely cares about the patient, lends his years of expertise to the situations.

Jeff is great! He's warm, supportive, and kind. He helped me a lot during the tough time this summer and I'm grateful I had his support. Even after we finished therapy he occasionally sends me encouraging messages and it's a pity I cannot reply as I don't have a subscription to the BetterHelp services.
Just wanted to let you know I'm doing great! I got a new car and am in the process of buying my first apartment!
Thank you!

There is nothing like having a therapist who can put a name to things that you never understood about yourself, and make you feel at ease with them. Talking with Jeff has helped me reflect on my thoughts and feelings in a more compassionate way, because I know he doesn't expect me to have everything figured out, like others.
Thank you for the safe space Jeff, you're the best!

Jeffrey Owen has a wealth of knowledge and experience. He is clearly skilled in his guidance, enabling me to understand the complexities of narcism and the impact of such lifelong abuse; that I had not fully understood. Reading on the subject matter is useful, but having counseling to explore in a different way is empowering for a survivor like myself. So thank you Jeff.

Jeffrey has proven to be very supportive and understanding of my issues. He gives me a lot more feedback than my last therapist which I really appreciate. I talk to him over chat and he seems okay with it, but still offers other ways of communicating. He helped me take steps to get medication from a psychiatrist and I will definitely want to keep talking to him past the 4 weeks.

I’ve had a lot of proximity to sensitive mission sets from my time in the military and I’ve been struggling to find someone that can support my PTSD. I stopped seeing my VA therapist and reached out and now have someone who is considerate of my situation. The VA has limited ability to help us and I was tired of settling for the few therapist around who were a bad fit for me. Thankfully I was paired with a fellow Veteran who understands my viewpoint as a Veteran, not a person shoved into a position they must force themselves to understand. His experience has made things so much easier on me especially helping my willingness to turn to a therapist. The VA had altered that a little bit and I was becoming hopeless until I turned to Better Help.

Jeff is an amazing therapist who over the last 7 months has helped me deal with and come to terms with a lot of issues from my past that were still affecting me. He's a very knowledgeable and kind therapist who always made me feel at ease and understood whenever we had a session. I feel that thanks to Jeff, I am able to navigate my life with a lot more calmness and clarity than I ever did before. It's sad that I no longer need the sessions with him as he's been a massive part of my life and my emotional healing, but it definitely means he's done his job, and he's done it extremely well. I 100% recommend Jeff to anyone who is in need with the issues he is specialised to help with because he is a fantastic therapist and a truly kind hearted person who takes extreme care with helping people to heal. Once again, thank you for everything Jeff!

Jeffrey is fantastic! After even one session with him I already felt like there was hope to help manage my anxiety, and felt like he provided the perfect, understanding sort of environment for me to express my concerns. For the first time I feel like there’s hope to have a better future for myself, and I can’t wait to continue my journey with his support!

He is very understanding and calm. He listens to everything I say and has helped me see some patterns in my life and in my relationships. He has also helped me to reframe my experiences and expectations in a way that feels more healthy for me. I have been in and out of talk therapy, CBT, and counseling for over 20 years and I would recommend this modality to almost anyone seeking help.
