My name is Jennifer Bicknese, ATR-BC, LPC. I am a Board Certified and Licensed Professional Counselor. I am licensed in the state of Pennsylvania and have 5 years of counseling experience. I have worked in an outpatient facility with children, an outpatient facility with adolescents and adults, and a residential facility with individuals diagnosed with bipolar and schizophrenia. I have the most experience working with, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, sexual identity, LGBTQ community, life stressors, grief and loss, and anger management.
I utilize two different methods of counseling. The first one is the practice of Art Therapy. Art Therapy is a non-verbal way to express feelings and work on overcoming obstacles. If a client is open to trying Art Therapy, there are many techniques I can provide to help with life stressors. By providing a therapy using art supplies, such as, paint, colored pencils crayons, markers, clay, etc., a client can discover key themes in their artwork. Through learning about these key themes, a client can better discover their own way of finding personal solutions to their goals of therapy.
The second practice I utilize is a Person-Centered Approach. A Person-Centered Approach basically means I want to help a client find ways in which to overcome stressors through positive support and understanding. By using a Person-Centered Approach, I help to guide a client into reaching their own personal growth and change. I do this by assisting clients with what they feel needs to be worked through. I am here to listen and support, with no judgement present. It is my aim to empower and motivate clients through the therapy process.
I look forward to learning more about you and helping you achieve all the goals you have set forth. Thank you for looking at my profile and allowing me to help you achieve a happier and healthier life.

I felt completely comfortable with Jennifer within the first session. She is professional, but also very personable and easy to talk to. She offers advice and opinions, to help me make decisions or realizations myself, without being judge mental in any way. I like her style of questioning, listening and offering feedback.

I started the year out with panic attacks and feeling very down on myself and like everything was impossible. I am now living an easier life thanks to better help and Jennifer and the encouragement and support I've received. I've made big changes in my everyday life including new meds (which meant going to the doctor and I was not keen on leaving my house) and just having someone to validate what I'm feeling, even via phone/message, and to be there was, and is still a very helpful and amazing service in these times.

I have tried multiple counselors, both through Betterhelp, and not. I had a good feeling about Jennifer, and I am now very glad to have been matched with her. I feel comfortable talking to Jennifer about my issues, whether big or small, and don't feel judged. Jennifer is easy to contact and I find it very helpful to know that I can send her a message at any time!

I do like Jennifer a lot-she seems to be able to empathize and relate to me. There are periods of our session she is silence and not sure if it is because she doesn't know what to say. Her grammar could be improved in her messaging. I like her personality and happy she is matched with me.

Still loving working with Jennifer as my therapist! She definitely listens to me and points out things that I don’t even realize happening in my own life. She’s always checking on me and reaching out to make sure I have the resources I need. I feel like I’ve made more progress through this method of therapy than I ever did with face to face previously.

Written on Jan 05, 2021 after therapy with Jennifer for 3 months on issues concerning depression, stress, anxiety, career difficulties, coping with life changes, and compassion fatigue
Jennifer has been an absolute delight to talk to during my time in counseling! I’ve been preparing for big life changes and have been in a particularly vulnerable place, and this was my first time seeking professional help on my own. From the very beginning, was friendly and open; I found it easy to tell her what counseling approaches felt right for me and which ones did not, and she listened and quickly oriented our sessions based on what I needed. I’m so grateful for the supportive role she’s played in my life, even for such a brief time. I highly recommend working with her, especially if, like me, this is your first time trying counseling and you want someone who will be attentive to your needs as you figure out what works best for you.

Sharing can be difficult especially with a stranger. Since the beginning, Jennifer has been extremely warm, kind and has followed my lead with our pace and direction. I’ve heard many stories from people about how their therapist wasn’t a good fit, so I feel grateful to have been matched with someone so wonderful! I love that she has a background of art therapy and am eager to explore those outlets!

I've only done one session with her so far. She made me feel very comfortable and share all my feelings. I didnt feel dumb or embarrassed to share it with her. I felt like she is listening to my main concerns and coming up with ways to help me. I've been messaging her a lot and she responses back to me that same day. Gives me tools and idea's of what I can do to help myself.

This was my first time using a service like BetterHelp or speaking to a professional. As soon as we started speaking, Jennifer was very understanding and professional. She took the time to ask me questions and get to know me before we started video calls so we could jump right into it. It’s been two weeks and I am already feeling less anxious thanks to Jennifer!

Jennifer has been wonderful. I think she’s a great therapist. I do prefer in person sessions but given the times this is best. The worksheets are difficult to read/type on phone.

I think Jennifer has is on her "A" game. She sends helpful worksheets for those who want that little extra support and is always around to help ease my anxieties. I would highly recommend her to anyone who is looking for a very personable therapist. Not only does she help with CBT therapy, but her way of getting me to express my feelings through artwork has been something I have never been willing to try. It is amazing to see how well it always works!

Jennifer has been a really big help for me. She always responds quickly and always has a helpful word of advice to share, but most importantly she is an incredibly kind person who you can tell cares deeply about the patients she works with.
