About me

I am a licensed professional counselor in Connecticut. I have a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling as well as a Master’s in Teaching, with a focus in English. I have worked, counseled, and taught at the high school, college, and adult levels for the last 15 years, including working and volunteering here in CT as well as in Guatemala and Guyana. I studied for a semester during undergraduate school at Richmond, the American International University in London, England as well as visited Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland during graduate school to complete a course in Multicultural Counseling. I was an ADA coordinator at the college level for 9 years and I served as President of the Connecticut Association on Higher Education and Disability for 2 years. I also minored in Women’s Studies as well as created and taught an undergraduate course entitled, “Sex and Gender across Cultures."

My theoretical orientations include:

Person-Centered, in which sessions are less authoritative and the therapist acts as a guiding facilitator to assist the client in arriving at solutions and insights;

Solution-Focused, in which the sessions are future-oriented and allow the client to focus on solutions and resolutions; and,

Existential, in which the sessions are led under the the assumption that there are certain universalities in the human experience and every person has the freedom and responsibility to make meaning in life by way of expression, creativity, and moving into our authentic selves.

I have experience working with young adults and adults who are struggling with relationship conflict, workplace conflict, life transitions, boundary-setting with family members and/or friends, body image issues, social media issues, relationship with money, relationship with the world-at-large, time organization, career goals and planning, navigating the world with a disability, ecological grief, commitment issues, seasonal affective disorder, interpersonal issues, spirituality development, and accessing inner creativity and authenticity.

I am available for 45 minute sessions (video or phone). I also offer to send “Session Summary Notes” to the client via the platform after each video or phone session for the client to review and keep. If you are interested in working with me, please feel free to message me.

Jennifer is a brilliant therapist with a wide knowledge base and a consistent ability to make her client feel seen, heard, and appropriately validated and challenged toward growth. I would highly recommend her without hesitation to anyone seeking a therapeutic space that is affirming, validating, and growth inspiring across identity locations.

Phenomenal therapist, extremely transparent and dedicated to helping people figure out what they see as their biggest obstacle and then assisting them overcome it.

Jennifer is the best! She always listens without judgment and allows me to guide the direction of the conversation to talk through my most pressing concerns. She also offers helpful advice which I appreciate. Can't recommend her enough :)

Jennifer is the most helpful therapist I've worked with. And I've met with several over the years, including some that were $200 an hour. Others have been helpful as well, but Jennifer is the best for me personally. Her experience and education background speak for themselves. I'm grateful for her guidance and intend to continue working with her through various types of challenges. I highly recommend talking with her.

Jennifer is the first therapist I have had where I felt really heard. She was always engaged in the conversation and I valued her responses and follow up questions. I feel like I have mad progress in a short amount of time and that my money was well spent.
