Jennifer "Jenny" Nelson, LCSW
About me
Hello! I'm Jenny, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Since graduating from IU School of Social work in 2011, my focus has mostly been on those with intellectual disabilities and mental health issues. I have worked with several individuals on the Autism spectrum, as well as individuals with Down's Syndrome, ADHD, Bi-polar disorder, GAD, among others. I have worked as a behavior therapist for the past 8 years and am looking to continue to help others through additional platforms.
I believe it is important to focus on the individual and determine what works best for each person. I tend to focus more on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) as well as utilizing a strength based approach. Overall, I would say I utilize an individualized eclectic approach.
Reaching out for help is an incredible sign of strength and I applaud you for making that first step. If you would like me to assist you on that path, feel free to contact me.

Jenny takes the time to listen, to make a person feel heard. She listens very well, takes in everything you confide in her with, and comes up with great solutions to the problems people face.

Jenny has been working with me for about a year now. I was always very shy to the use of talk therapy, often left with feelings of not being heard by others. Jenny is the absolute opposite of that, she takes time to let me speak openly. Working with Jenny has taught me how to utilize boundary setting, accepting and not accepting certain treatment in different relationships. My confidence has grown, I feel as though I have a better control of my emotions. There have been times that I have been late/ missed my appointments due to emergencies. Jenny never makes me feel poorly for that, she instead asks if I am okay and we proceed. Jenny is exceptional at what she is doing and I always look forward to meeting with her.
