About me

I view psychotherapy as a psychological way of treating presenting features or challenges. I want to create a space where you can tell your story, in your own words, to explore and process what is happening for you. I'm an assimilative, integrative therapist - I'm human first everything else second. This means that as a psychotherapeutic counsellor, I use Transactional Analysis as my core model of therapy and take bits and pieces from other models to fit your needs and tailor your treatment plan and contract.

The therapeutic relationship at it's core is two individuals having a conversation and relating to one another through the lens of their lived experience. I might not have walked the same path as you, but I'll listen to and reflect your experience of your journey with intrigue, curiosity and space for reflection.

My core hours are usually 10am - 7pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
Evening and weekend appointments are available on request.

How long does therapy take? How long is a piece of string? It depends, in all honesty, what the therapeutic contract is, and what you would like to work towards. We can cover this during treatment planning and initial meeting.

I'm comfortable using a single session approach (Windy Dryden also calls this 'therapy plus'!) which is one therapy session with the option for more if needed, or planning short (6 - 8 week) or longer term psychotherapy (20+) sessions as required.

If we're not a good match, that's not a problem - you can always switch things up and be matched with another therapist. We're not going to like everyone we meet, and not all therapists are suitable for all people. As much as I would love to be able to help everyone I meet, I accept that we all have different needs, styles and preferred personalities. That's the beauty and richness of diverse human experience.

Important Update – Ethical Considerations for Providing Therapy when Unwell

As part of the BACP Ethical Framework, I am required to ensure that my wellbeing is sufficient to sustain the quality of my therapeutic work.

Whilst I endeavour to maintain good health and wellbeing, periods of sickness and ill-health may occur. During these times, I will inform clients and allow them to make a choice whether they wish to reschedule or postpone sessions until I have sufficiently recovered.
