Jessica Kohl, LPC
About me
I am passionate about creating change and hope in the lives of adults. I like to see myself as a newer type of therapist who believes open, honest, communication is the key to change. In my opinion, therapy should be a conversation that helps you grow while creating an environment that makes you feel safe and comfortable.
I received undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Biomedical Engineering from the University of Missouri. In 2011, I received a dual Master’s of Education in Counseling Psychology focusing on both LPC & LMFT tracks. I have been licensed as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC), a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). I am currently licensed in Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor.
I have worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings. I have 8 years of experience in inpatient adult drug and alcohol treatment centers and 5 years in private practice. I work with individuals, couples, and families. I have experience treating depression, anxiety, PTSD, military life and relationships, substance abuse, non-traditional relationships – including those in the lifestyle, and complex couples, and family situations – including families coping with addiction.
