Jessica Smeal, LMHP
About me
I am an LMHP and LADC with 13 years of experience. I have worked in a variety of settings and levels of care ranging from corrections to long-term co-occurring facilities to outpatient. I currently work with adults ages 19+. My clients include those who have mood disorder concerns, personality disorder concerns, drug and alcohol use issues, trauma related issues, and anxiety concerns. I have training in REBT, CBT, DBT (individual and skills group), and EMDR. I believe everyone is different and everyone has individual needs. Therefore I take a focused or eclectic approach with each of my clients to meet those individual needs. My philosophy for therapy and counseling is that it is the client who determines their course and I help them on their way. I look forward to working with you!

Jessica is very supportive in a calm and rational way without being too hard on me or too sympathetic. She is really helpful at providing concrete skills to work towards my goals and deal with my emotions and struggles . I’ve been to more than a handful of therapists throughout my 20 plus years of dealing with bipolar depression II and anxiety. I started doing Dialectical Behavioral Therapy with her and find it to be very helpful and a really constructive approach to addressing my mental health struggles and life struggles in general with relationship problems, familial dysfunction dynamics, work stress, and my struggles with body image and weight management/trying to be healthier. I highly recommend Jessica for DBT. She is also very responsive on this app with checking in and is thorough and thoughtful in her approach.

Jessica is very easy to open up to early on in treatment. In the past I have struggled with feeling connected to my therapist. Often lacking a sense of commonality. Jessica is also caring and compassionate when I show emotions.
