My name is Jessica and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Virginia and Maryland with 20 years' experience in many states on the East Coast. My Masters in Social Work is from Boston University and I love assisting others to make changes and improve their lives. I am currently accepting clients who are looking for messaging or live typing (chat) sessions. I check messages and respond intermittently from 9 AM - 2:30 PM Monday - Friday and have availability for live chat sessions between 10:00 AM-2:30 PM Monday-Friday. We can use about an hour a week through detailed email check-ins (about an hour a week of reading and writing) or a 45-minute weekly live session and a few briefer email check-ins.
I have worked with individuals through brief and long-term therapy. I have special expertise in stress reduction, anxiety, career issues, and addiction recovery.
It is important to me to really get to know the person I am working with and adapt my counseling style to meet your needs. I like to set practical goals to help you make changes in your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that solve problems. I try to provide resources and worksheets so you can continue to focus on your growth outside of messaging or live sessions.
It is hard to make this first step and I commend you and hope to work with you.

Jessica listens and understands what’s going on in my life and I always look forward to our sessions

I was very lucky to be matched with Jessica Zike! During our sessions, she is respectful and fun to talk to. She also listens to what I have to say and asks clarifying questions to understand more of what I’m saying. This ultimately leads to statements made that open my perspective on a situation that I never considered before. She has helped me create a sense of calm and peace in my life that I’m working towards. I know that each day isn’t perfect, but she’s given me the resources I need to show up for myself and my family. She is truly the best!!

Written on Jun 20, 2022 after therapy with Jessica for 3 years and 10 months on issues concerning stress, anxiety, and relationship issues
Therapy was always considered a negative thing to me growing up. As I got older, talk of therapy and counseling became more acceptable. I went to one therapist for a few years until they became too attached and crossed the lines of professionalism. I struggled to find something until I came across betterhelp. I believe it was recommended by a friend and I tried it. I was connected to Jessica Zike, LCSW, who has been my counselor for 3 years.
Jessica has gotten to know me, actively listened and remembers what we talk about. She challenges me, pushes me, offers applicable materials to read and research, is attentive, kind, and considerate.
Finding betterhelp has been life-changing. I love looking back and seeing how much I've grown, and I thank the wonderful people at betterhelp and Jessica Zike.

Jessica has been a great listening ear. She has as well sent me useful information and tools to help cope. She responds fast and I really enjoy the video chats. I have a son who has a developmental delay and relationship that has issues and it has been nice talking to her about both.

I like Jessica. She listens and points out things that can be understood in a different way than what I've said. I appreciate candid, yet objective feedback. Jessica meets that criteria.

Jessica has been amazing! Immediately I felt secure knowing she was taking my concerns seriously. Within a couple of days she had created goal plans for me which have been incredibly helpful. When I don’t reach out she stays on top of me and sends me messages almost daily letting me know she is always around to listen. I will absolutely, and already have one friend interested, recommend better help and Jessica. Thanks again!

Jessica is amazing. She is so compassionate, understanding, insightful, and helpful. She really takes the time to get to know me, and how to best help me. I keep thinking she's going to run out of ideas, but that never happens. This isn't cookie cutter counseling, but genuinely tailored to your needs. I couldn't recommend her more!

Jessica is professional and knowledgeable but also still very approachable and friendly. She has been a great fit for me so far and I really value her advice and expertise, which has allowed me to face new problems and conflicts in-between sessions with the tools I need to stay calm and think things through rationally instead of being paralyzed by anxiety and obsessive thoughts.

Written on Dec 14, 2018 after therapy with Jessica for 2 weeks on issues concerning self esteem, and career difficulties
Jessica is a great counselor and I can't recommend her enough! She is very responsive and takes the time to understand what your concerns are and how she can help. Not only is she responsive to your messages, but if she hasn't heard from you in a day or two she'll follow up to check in and see how you're doing. For someone who is busy and gets caught up in everything going on, this is a great reminder to stop and evaluate. She pushes you to think beyond just the surface issue and what might be causing the underlying issue. Sometimes it's uncomfortable evaluating yourself in ways you haven't before, but for me I need someone who pokes me with a stick and forces me out of my comfort zone.
