About me

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Florida with over 10 years of experience working as a therapist. I have worked with clients that have extensive levels of concerns including but not limited to depression, anxiety, trauma, social and interpersonal relationship challenges not to exclude family discord. I have been adaptable to working in many different settings. I believe the approach of meeting my client where they are is a grounding principle for my therapeutic style. Although not always in person, the distance will never be seen as a distraction.

I obtained my master’s degree from Florida State University, but faced many challenges with that. Some struggles in life peak during adolescence and I was no stranger to that. Transitions were not my friend, I had to overcome many relational, financial, and educational difficulties that grew me to understanding personal struggles.

I believe in a client-centered approach as all clients are the experts on what works best for them and the challenges that they continue to face. I strive to provide an environment that is non-judgmental and accepting of where you are in your process while helping you get to where you want to be. Through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I assist clients in exploring relationships among thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to aid in discovering dysfunctional thought patterns leading to self-destructive behaviors and beliefs. I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) which is a modality that assist in how trauma is seen and processed. I have worked the better part of my career assisting in trauma processing, clients have been sexually abused, physically abused, or have suffered from significant loss.

I believe counseling is a journey towards healing. If you are willing to allow me on this journey with you to master any conflict in your life, I am ready when you are!

I have only had two sessions with her and I definitely notice a difference. Jhaismen is a great therapist and I’m grateful I got paired with her.

She is amazing!! Jhaismen is very personable. She is the reason why I came back to BetterHelp. I wanted her and only her! Having a black therapist is important for me. There are a lot of cultural aspects of our lives , that I don’t have to sit and breakdown for her. She just gets it. And I love that, this help me with opening up. I never feel judged. Talking to Jhasimen is like talking to a friend.

Having a counselor like Jhaismen is truly refreshing. In a world full of busyness, her approach with me was simply to be present, feel my emotions, and talk it out. I appreciate her willingness to guide me through challenging experiences and offer support and advice when necessary. She creates a safe space for me to share difficult stories and I am grateful for her openness.

My fist impression of Jhaismen from my fist session was great. I felt positive energy from her. I’ve never talked to a therapist before, I didn’t what to expect. Jhaismen made me feel comfortable telling my story. She’s attentive and provides great tools to face my challenges.
