Dr. Joelle Kallio, Psychologist
About me
I see the therapy process as a partnership and the client (You) are the most important part of that process. It is your process and I see myself, as the therapist, as a part of the process like a guide. Feedback is important to me, as I can use this information to help guide you in the way that is most helpful. Most of my work is done in a model that is based on helping you find your strengths to resolve any problems that you identify. I use cognitive behavioral therapy, which helps you examine how what you think, and how you are thinking can impact your experiences. Also I focus on helping you find solutions to your situation and ways of looking at things that help you to find solutions. I also encourage people to find their own ways of self-care and rejuvenation, because all of us need to use the best self-care that we possibly can, in order to find the best quality of life for ourselves in this world.

Joelle is the best therapist I have ever worked with! She has supported me through both the mundane periods of life and the serious crisis. Joelle understands the struggles I have gone through and am going through and is always very helpful. She is an active listener, paying attention to the smaller details and subtext of thoughts, beliefs, and situations and is very good at reflecting back what has been communicated in a different perspective that one does not think of on their own. So well it's always very intentional to provide kind and considerate validation as well as pointing out opportunities for growth in a respectful and constructive manner; always bringing her unique professional insights and helpful tools and worksheets.
Two of my favorite things about working with Joelle are:
1) scheduling flexibility, even at the last minute, never having to wait more than a couple days to meet as well as fitting you in when there's an urgent crisis and you really really need to talk to someone and as often as you need
2) awesome and well written notes and follow-up sent via written message to recap what was discussed and clearly defining action points between now and the next session!
10/10

I appreciate Joelle's patience and also calm demeanour as we tackled my challenges and fears. After trying out three counselors on BetterHelp she proved to be the best fit and I am grateful for her guidance through a tumulteous period of struggle and insecurity. She listens well and provides me with appropriate and effective tips and asks the right questions which encourage reflection and charting a suitable course of future action. I also appreciate her post-session notes as a follow-up on the issues discussed and also as a reminder of progress.
