Joseph Mbaeru, BACP
About me
My name is Jo.I am a BACP-registered integrative counsellor. I have had over 6yrs experience working within the NHS as service desk analyst in a non-clinical role before graduating from Birmingham Newman University with a Bachelor’s Degree (B.A) in counselling studies and currently completing a Master’s Degree (MSc) in integrative counselling.
My training cuts across several counselling modalities. My integrative formulation includes using the PCT as a core approach in providing the foundation for therapeutic alliance with my clients. Along this, depending on the clients presenting issues, I draw on CBT, Gestalt, mindfulness and psychodynamic modalities in my clinical formulation. I listen intently and respectfully, to understand and support clients from all walks of life in a multicultural setting to provide a non - judgemental, friendly, and comfortable environment in which we may work through challenges.
I work with clients who may be struggling with grief, relationship issues, trauma, poor self-esteem, mild, moderate and severe depression, anxiety, or dread of the future. I know how valuable it is to be able to talk to someone neutrally and listen without passing judgement. I would describe myself as congruent, honest, and helpful. I believe in providing not just care, but genuine compassion and support to clients during their most vulnerable moments. I am aware that getting help does not indicate that you have a psychological disorder. Also, the process of transformation within you continues after each session and working with a trained professional in a confidential setting can help gain valuable insight into your situation and bring about much-needed change. You don’t have to suffer in silence.

I have carried so much weight over the years that's I began to doubt weather my worries and struggles were real or I was going crazy.
Joseph has helped me start to unpack my feelings and come out of my shell and find the me that I have been sheltering from the world.
One of the most effective and challenging things Joseph has done for me is challenged my perception of my situation and how I see myself, and to question weather this view is true to reality

A total pro, who understands human nature plus clearly demonstrates a strong grasp of his profession, principles and best practice.
