Dr. Judith (Judy) Hefren, LCSW
About me
Counseling is a process where we can work together to bring about change or help you adjust to change that has been forced upon you, with the ultimate goal of improving your quality of life.
I am also designated as an adoption competent therapist. I enjoy working with adoptive parents, adults who were adopted, as well as, my personal heroes, the birth mothers. I have also completed training to use Eye Movement, Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
With training in both Social Work and Accounting, I am particularly well equipped to help families as they navigate through financial challenges and deal with the relational issues that these challenges may raise.
And then there is life and sometimes it is just hard. As Mr. Rogers said, “Anything that’s human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable. When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary. The people we trust with that important talk can help us know that we are not alone.” I believe that I can be that person you can trust. I never want to think of anybody being alone, holding on what they’ve been told is unmentionable.
As a friend of mine says, “Life is not a dress rehearsal.” We don’t get a do-over. Let’s work together to make the most of it!
So, contact me and let’s get together and see if I am someone who you are comfortable with. I’d love to help.

Dr. Hefren really listened to me. I had one session then kinda disappeared on her because life got hard. I’m sure she has a lot of patients but she took notes in our initial conversation & remembered a significant date in my life. She reached out to me even though my account was moved to inactive just to make sure I am ok. It says a lot about her as a therapist & I appreciate it.
