Dr. Julie Clark, LPC
About me
I am a licensed trauma-informed therapist with over 15 years of clinical experience. I am trained and certified in a variety of trauma-informed treatment protocols for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and complex PTSD. I have extensive experience treating the unresolved grief and “historical” trauma associated with many Indigenous people living in the U.S. and Canada. I have specialized training and experience working with veterans who experienced sexual trauma while in the military. Other specialized areas include developmental (attachment) trauma, and interpersonal (domestic violence) trauma.
I believe we are all born with unique gifts and talents and limitless potential. However, the layers of context within our micro and macro environments can have great impact on our 'blanc tableau' and how we develop across the lifespan. I approach all clients with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and do not believe in ascribing stigmatizing labels that do not always capture the true nuances of certain populations.
I trust that my clients have the agency and ability to create the change they desire and that therapy is a means to become 'unstuck' from the false and inhibiting thoughts and beliefs that often play on 'repeat'. My approach to treatment is tailored to each individual. Forms of treatment include EMDR and cognitive processing therapy for trauma, cognitive or rational emotive behavior therapy, narrative therapy or dialectical behavior therapy. Recommendations for 'alternative' forms of therapy may include yoga, neurobiofeedback, creative endeavors, or suggestions to seek treatment(s) specific to the non-western medicinal practices of one's culture.
I look forward to assisting you in your journey!
