About me

If you're feeling overwhelmed by difficult emotions, exploring your thoughts and feelings in a safe, non-judgmental space can be an invaluable way to manage and process them. As a therapist, I offer just that kind of space.

My approach to counseling combines person-centered and psychodynamic perspectives, both of which emphasize the importance of the therapeutic relationship and the client's inner experience. I believe that every individual has the innate capacity for personal growth and self-understanding, and my role is to create a supportive environment that nurtures these qualities.

I focus on each client's unique subjective experience, encouraging them to explore their thoughts and feelings in a manner that feels safe and supportive. I strive to be empathetic, non-judgmental, and accepting, seeking to understand my clients' perspectives without imposing my own views.

Through a psychodynamic approach, I explore the unconscious processes that influence behavior and examine how unresolved past conflicts may affect current life experiences. Our unconscious thoughts, feelings, and behaviors significantly shape our world and relationships. By delving into these hidden aspects, we can gain a deeper understanding of ourselves and make positive changes in our lives.

I also have a deep interest in somatic psychotherapy, a field that views the body and mind as interconnected parts of a unified whole. For those interested, I offer a mind-body approach to nervous system regulation and somatic emotional processing. This involves using techniques that help individuals understand and release physical manifestations of emotional stress, fostering greater emotional balance and well-being.

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Julija Silina. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

Whilst Julija doesn’t have a huge amount of experience with autism and autistic people like myself, she has tried much harder than almost any other therapist I’ve met to actually help me, and most importantly to adapt her ways to what suits me best, rather than doing what some previous so called therapists did, which was to try and force me to adapt to their ways. Julija actually listens and tries to make things work in a way that suits my needs. I still need a specialist therapist, but she has been really helpful in her own ways. A great, professional and kind woman.

Julija has been great to talk to. She has been very gentle and understanding in a time when I have needed a bit of extra support and has given me strategies to better look after myself and manage my emotions which I am grateful for. I would definitely recommend her.

Julija is an excellent listener and provides a very accepting space to talk through what's going on in your life that's brought you to therapy. At first of course you can feel a bit embarrassed about discussing absolutely everything, but you have to remember if you can't be completely honest then you won't get the best out of your therapy. Julija is great at providing a judgement-free atmosphere and helps direct the conversation with pivotal questions so that you can accept and process your feelings so that you can move forward in a positive way.
