Dr. Julius Austin, LPC
About me
Hello and welcome!
I am excited to start our journey together. I'll share a little about my educational background, my clinical experience, and then my hopes for our relationship.
I earned a B.S. in Psychology and Exercise & Sports Science and an M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. I also went on to earn a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of Wyoming. My clinical work includes community mental health, in-patient mental health, the college population, and working in diverse metropolitan and rural environments.
Regarding our relationship, I hope to assist you in starting the process of living an authentic life - transcending from receiving environment support to self-support. The essence of who I am as a counselor is centered on helping you gain freedom of and responsibility for your choices by empowering you to become aware of yourself, your environment, and the relationship between the two. It is highly important for me to create an environment of genuineness, trust, humor, respect, and spontaneity. The counseling relationship can be an intimate and vulnerable space. My hope is to honor this by giving you the space to carve out your own existence within our relationship. I hope to collaboratively cultivate a relationship of exploration, intentionality, and action.
I look forward to getting to know you,
Dr. J

I’ve gone about a year without talking to Dr. Austin regularly. I’m that time I tried another therapist via telemedicine and was drawn back to Better Help and my conversations with Dr. Austin, who happily agreed to work with me again!

Dr Austin is great. He will soccer kick you in the butt if you need but also lend a shoulder. He's a wonderful man, and my life is better because of my relationship with him.

Dr. Austin is the best therapist I’ve seen. He is real and honest. He asks questions and is not afraid to really dig in deep. He also has very relevant, valuable advice and information to offer. I’m excited to continue working with him.

Best therapist I’ve ever had... and I’ve had a few. Raw, to the point, real and caring. The relationship with patients is genuine and based in caring. Truly grateful to have been matched with him.
