Karen Johnson, LMHC
About me
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida with 14 years of professional experience, and I am also a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. My expertise includes helping clients navigate challenges such as lack of motivation, self-esteem issues, career difficulties, and coping with significant life changes. I specialize in supporting individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, compassion fatigue, and other mental health concerns, with a particular focus on trauma-informed care.
In my practice, I prioritize creating an open and safe environment where clients feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment. I believe that taking the first step towards a more fulfilling and happier life requires immense courage, and I am committed to being a supportive partner in that journey. My approach is collaborative, working closely with clients to identify their goals and develop personalized strategies to achieve them, utilizing evidence-based techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
I am particularly passionate about empowering individuals to overcome obstacles and realize their full potential. As the child of Jamaican immigrants, I bring a culturally relevant perspective to my work, valuing diversity and inclusivity in all aspects of my practice. I am also a person of faith, which informs my strong belief system and commitment to ethical and compassionate care.
In addition to my professional work, I enjoy meeting new people and building meaningful connections with my clients. I am dedicated to continuous learning and growth, both personally and professionally, to ensure that I provide the highest quality of care. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you, supporting you in your personal growth and helping you achieve the life you envision.

She’s extremely helpful

My Therapist, Karen, was insightful. She made me stop and think, not gloss over statements, and move on to the next subject. Setting goals is something I did mentally but not physically. Write it down she said, and check them off as I go. The homework she has provided so far, has helped me focus on the things I already knew but never put into practice. Thank you Karen!
