About me

Karen L. Katunich Ph.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist who has worked in group private practice, and as a Senior Clinician in the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center's Mood Disorders Clinic. She has had over 30 years experience with diverse populations. Dr. Katunich has provided psychological care for adolescents, adults, and seniors and now specializes in the treatment of mood disorders, borderline personality disorder issues and trauma.

Dr. Katunich received her doctorate at Virginia Commonwealth University and her internship training at the Pittsburgh Consortium-VAMC. She is presently Director or Psychotherapy Training at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic. She has over 30 years experience with diverse populations in multiple public and private clinical settings. Dr. Katunich. Her clinical orientation is Cognitive Behavioral.

As a former Air Force Officer she first began extensive teaching experience at the US Air Force Academy and has since taught at the undergraduate and graduate level at local colleges and universities.

I have only known her for a few short weeks however I feel like I trust her like she’s been in my life forever. Dr. Katunich has helped me examine my specific situation in away that has been effective in relieving my anxiety and has enabled me to overcome my panic attacks and focus on goals that I have set for my self.
She listens well and was able to catch my trigger when in a live session.
