About me

“Courage starts with showing up and letting ourselves be seen.” - - Brene’ Brown

Hello there!!

You have made a courageous step towards positive change and growth!! I sincerely believe that all beings have an innate need for connection. A connection not only to others but to yourself is necessary for optimal living. The therapeutic relationship is a space where exploration and curiosity can support your journey of reconnecting with self and others. As a counselor, I believe that every person is unique and worthy of unconditional acceptance. Providing support towards a client’s sense of wholeness is my goal. Authenticity and trust can prove to be a caveat in aiding you as you increase self-awareness, process feelings, identify and practice new approaches to existing problems or concerns, gain insight and to find healing and empowerment. You will find me to be passionate about helping people work through barriers to create the relationships and lives that they desire and to develop a sense of personal strength and self-acceptance. I celebrate and welcome the diversity of all clients and strive to create an affirming, inclusive and non-judgmental space in which you can explore your individual needs and therapeutic goals.

I am KaShunda (Shun) Davis, a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. I've been a mental health therapist for 6 years serving in community counseling centers and private counseling serving teens, adults, and couples. Examples of concerns/issues that I’ve supported clients through include anxiety & stress management, depression, self-esteem & self-acceptance, coping skills; sexuality, gender identity and LGBTQIA+ concerns; relationship issues and career transitions

My therapeutic style is integrative in nature and provides an emotionally safe space that supports insight, self-exploration, concerns, emotions and achieve healthy goals. Our work together will involve exploring the connections between your thoughts, emotions and behaviors; open dialogue, focusing on your strengths and values, integrating mindfulness techniques and implementing effective coping skills and practices both during and in between sessions that can better equip you to handle life’s challenges as they arise.

I look forward to working with you,

Shun

She’s the best therapist I’ve had the pleasure of working with. From the moment I saw her profile, I felt that she was the right person to talk to. She has helped me take a leap I didn’t think it was possible before. She’s understanding, communicative and makes an effort to reach out and check up on me.

I have been so pleasantly surprised that I could feel such a rapport with a therapist online, even more so that I have felt connected to other therapists in person. Shun seems like she is always in my corner - on video call days, through worksheets that she assigns me and encouraging text messages. She is very intuitive and has hit the nail on the head on several issues that bubbled up. She is both a quiet, attentive listened as well as a solid communicator of complex thoughts. I am very grateful for Shun and this platform.

Shun has been such a joy to work with! She is encouraging, empathetic, empowering and attuned to what I need most in the moment. I am so thankful for her guidance, support and ability to adapt to the situation at hand, while still keeping the long term goal in mind.

Shun is absolutely wonderful. The best therapist I have ever had that listens, understands, and helps in ways I always hoped for.
