About me

First and foremost, I would like to acknowledge and affirm all who are reading my profile. Whether or not I am privileged to work with you, I appreciate all the steps taken to reach this point. My hope for you is that finding a great therapeutic match online will be easier than finding a dating match online, and less awkward. Please take a few minutes and check out my information below to get to know a little more about me and my experience. If you have any questions, I will be more than happy to answer them!

My Background
My name is Katherine "Katie" Bautista and I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor as well as a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist and Certified Clinical Supervisor. I received my Master's in Science from East Carolina University in 2015 in Substance Abuse and Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I have been working in the human services field for 16 years initially working with adults and children who are alternatively abled and living with ID/DD. I developed a passion for working with adults with co-occurring substance use disorders and mental health needs and that has been the focus of my career since 2011. I have worked in various treatment settings from community based programs up to residential treatment programs and partial hospitalization. My passion for reaching as many people as possible has lead me to expand my practice to teletherapy.

My Style
I believe in the power of being heard as well as the power to change. My goal as a therapist is to provide clients with an authentic encounter and a collaborative relationship. I am not the measure of a client’s success and I do not believe a client’s success is because of me. I can only offer tools and be a gentle guide, kind of an emotional Ace Hardware.
I am committed to lifelong growth as a person as well as a counselor. I believe it is my responsibility and best practice to cater to the needs of the person sitting in front of me and adjust my approach to fit the client’s needs. Sessions can be anything need from empathetic listening and processing, to goal directed action sessions.

There are not good enough descriptions on what an excellent therapist Katie is. She is one of the few therapists that have been able to help me and any person is lucky to have her as a therapist. She really hears you out and finds every way possible to help you get through the bad times and enjoy the good times when they happen.

She is the best match for me! I have nothing but positive remarks about working with Katie. She listens and understands and offers tools for me that allow me to improve my mental health and become stronger. Highly recommend Katie for anyone who is dealing with family trauma as I think this is her best specialty, while she is exceptional with other topics as well.
