About me

Hello, I’m Kat! As a queer and neurodivergent clinical social worker with nearly a decade of experience in social services, I am passionate about partnering with individuals from marginalized identities and communities to navigate life’s complexities and reach their full potential.

My practice is grounded in an anti-oppressive and anti-racist framework, ensuring our work honors your unique experiences and perspectives, as you are the expert in your life and story. I believe in the transformative power of informed consent, which means that your voice and choices are central to our journey. With a heart full of compassion and empathy, I support your self-determination and autonomy, helping you uncover the strength and wisdom you already possess.

In our time together, fostering and establishing a healing relationship, we’ll create a safe and judgment-free space where you can explore and release thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that may no longer serve your highest self. Whether you’re dealing with complex trauma, navigating challenging life circumstances, or simply seeking greater clarity and purpose, my approach blends the power of your story with effective strategies from narrative therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and dialectical behavioral therapy.

By working together, you’ll gain tools to reshape your narrative, cultivate healing-centered joy, and build a life that reflects your true values and desires. My experience in criminal defense and jail settings has equipped me with a deep understanding of resilience and the strength required to overcome significant obstacles created and sustained by external influences that lead us to feel powerless and complacent in our life’s trajectory.

If you’re ready to embark on a transformative journey towards healing and empowerment, I’m here to walk with you every step of the way. Let’s uncover the incredible potential within you and create a life that is authentically yours.

Reach out today, and let’s start your path to a brighter future together!

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Katherine Layton. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

I really appreciate Katherine’s understanding and non-judgmental outlook on any type of situation that has come up. As my first therapist, I was skeptical and scared about sharing. Now I am willing and eager to share any of my concerns or questions I may have as I now know that talking about your problems with another person, even if you don’t find what they have to say about it helpful at the moment, really lifts a weight off your person. I also appreciate the variety of strategies recommended to me to help me understand myself better. Overall, I recommend Katherine and therapy in general for anyone who thinks it would help them better themselves.
