Kathryn Heinzen, LPC
About me
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, licensed in the states of Kansas and Wisconsin. I have been a practicing licensed therapist for 12 years. I have worked with a wide range of populations from children and adolescents to adults and geriatrics. I have worked with clients who have struggled with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, stress management, career challenges, and significant life changes. I am also a certified personal trainer and I have worked with clients struggling with weight loss and body image issues. I have experience working in several different settings including group homes, an inpatient psychiatric hospital, and an intensive outpatient hospital setting. What this means, is that I have worked with people at various points in their mental health journey.
My counseling style is warm, compassionate, and supportive, but I will also challenge you to grow. I will meet you where are you at, actively listen to you, and help you set and achieve the goals that are important to you. I utilize several approaches in my practice, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, mindfulness, journaling, and positive psychology.
It can be hard to reach out and seek help and I commend you for taking the first steps to make positive changes in your life. If you are ready to commit, I am ready to support and empower you to be successful.
I look forward to working with you!

She always seeks to understand me and when she does she reminds me of my own worth and boundaries.

Kathryn is helping me to continue improving my mental and physical health every day. At first, I was hesitant, I didn't think I was getting enough out of Betterhelp because I wasn't using it often enough. But it turns out that knowing I have always access to my counselor, and knowing she will check on me over the long run has made it incredibly worth it. I feel much more secure than I ever did before.
She's also a really great listener, and her style has matched well with mine. I am so thankful this holiday season to have her on my side.

I am loving working with Kathryn. She gives me wonderful insights and is a great listener. She responds to me and checks in regularly. I love that I can text her anytime instead of waiting till the next appointment when I am likely to forget or leave out important details.
