Kimala Flowers, LPC
About me
I am a LPC and BC-TMH. I graduated from William Carey College with a Bachelors of General Studies in Business Administration and Psychology; and I received my MS in Rehabilitation Counseling from Jackson State University. I have over 16 years of experience working in the mental health field. I have experience working as an adult clinician, in outpatient community mental health. I focus on working with adults and families often with emotional and mental health problems, by providing mental health counseling. I have experience working with a variety of issues such as suicidal ideations, homicidal ideations, drug and alcohol abuse, depression, self-esteem, anxiety, coping skills, and trauma. I also have experience working in a residential treatment facility with youths and adolescents with behavioral and emotional problems. I enjoy helping others establish goals, meeting those goals, and developing coping skills to help them manage everyday life situations and issues. I have worked with all ages, providing individual therapy, family therapy, and group therapy. My approach to counseling is a cognitive-behavioral perspective; meaning my goal is to help clients change patterns of thinking and behavior by recognizing and changing negative thoughts, learning to manage negative emotions, and controlling unhealthy impulses. Other interventions and treatment approaches that I utilize are DBT and Trauma-Focused therapy.

I am very happy with Kimala. I tried a couple therapist before I found her. She has been such a positive influence in my life and I have only had 2 sessions with her. She is very busy but still makes time to respond to my messages, which is greatly appreciated. She is very gentle but also tells me the things I need to hear. So far very positive experience and would recommend 10/10

she listens to me and everything i say and explain to her what wanna do, she completely understands and gets it…she has heard so many things and not once has she pitied or showed empathy for me but supported me, showed me and guided me to not even worry or do what i gotta do that will benefit me and make sure i’m in the good and having a blessed life. to me she is like that very supportive mother who doesn’t agree or tells me to do this or that when she doesn’t agree with it because she listens to my explanations and from my point of view! I love Kimala!

Talking to Kimala is like receiving a warm embrace. She keeps it real but in a tender way. I’m so glad I have her as my person.

Kim has been the support and assurance I needed most of my life. She's helped me realize it's okay to seek help and that not everything I'm going through is my fault. She broadened my view on how to view certain situations and kept me accountable for the changes I wanted to make in my life. Also She's kinda hilarious.
