About me

I believe that when people find and embrace their own strengths and trust in themselves; they can make positive changes in their lives. It's important to me that I provide a warm and trusting place for my clients to explore, grow, and thrive in. I draw from my experience in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused, and Mindfulness modalities to tailor therapy to meet each of my clients needs and preferences.

I graduated summa cum laude with a Master's of Science in mental health counseling in 2015. I have experience in hospital settings conducting behavioral health assessments and providing crisis intervention/stabilization, treatment, and discharge planning. In individual therapy, I have helped clients with depression, anxiety, grief, trauma/loss, domestic violence, neglect/abuse, substance abuse, body image and self-esteem, suicidal ideation/non-suicidal self-injury, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, dementia, and chronic medical conditions.

Kind, intelligent, thoughtful, resourceful, patient, empathetic, encouraging... The list of positive traits for Kirsten is endless. She is by far the best counselor I’ve seen in my past 15 years of attending therapy (with a number of different people). Talking to her is not only helpful, but a delight as well. And her cat is cute, too!
