Thank you for taking the time to read through my profile, I am glad that you are taking the step to reach out for help!
To begin, I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, a Licensed Drug and Alcohol Counselor, and a Life Coach in New Mexico. For the past 14 years I've worked with individuals, couples, and families across the lifespan to tackle challenges that they're facing in their lives. I have specialized training in family relationships, marriage/couples, substance abuse, sexuality, mindfulness, grief and loss, trauma, and military families. I engage in a non-judgmental approach to helping clients identify their strengths and use those to tackle the problems they face.
I think that it is important for me to note that I really love the work that I do, and I love being able to provide therapy through a platform that is convenient and available 24/7. Online therapy is new and exciting, but also may be a little scary at first. I'm here to take things at your pace and to help you to navigate the platform and to help you feel at ease with this style of work. :)
I engage in client-centered practice where your needs and wishes are respected and honored. I practice from a systems perspective that involves considering how the challenges you face are impacted by, and likewise impact, the systems to which you belong (i.e., family, work, community). I am also a strengths-based therapist who avoids pathologizing anyone, we all experience challenges and need help from time to time, that is not an indication of some inherent weakness. I am comfortable working with liberals and conservatives, religious and non-religious individuals alike. Because I adopt a non-judgmental approach and one that allows you to be the expert in your own life, my own perceptions and beliefs take a back seat. Of course it is impossible to completely avoid bias, but I actively address with my clients their beliefs and values and we work together to understand one another and respect differing perspectives. So please do not be confused or discouraged because I list in my profile that I can work with people from opposite spiritual, religious, or otherwise beliefs...the client-centered practice that I have built allows an opportunity for this. I am also happy to discuss this further if questions arise. :)
Personally, I am the mother of two young and energetic boys who keep me running! I have been married for 15 years, my husband and I enjoy watching movies, camping, hiking, and most of all laughing. We also have two very spoiled dogs who round out our household.
I take pride and joy in my work and look forward to engaging with you as you begin your journey to a better you!

I really appreciate Dr. Vaillancourt for everything she has done for me. She does try to keep me on track with my sessions, responses and journals... I'm horrible at making 5mins for myself to sit down and do this.
I do wish she had a video option and I do feel because without that personal connection I don't open up as much with more personal subjects and I hold back. Trust issues but the things I do talk to her about she has been great help and given me different ways to see things and that works. I would still recommend Dr. Vaillancourt as a very good therapist and is attentive and helpful.

Dr. Vaillancourt made me feel immediately like I was in good hands. She is very professional, but still very warm, caring, and personal. I'm an intensely private person, yet I feel at ease sharing with her and being really honest. Even when I'm too upset or overwhelmed to write anything, she doesn't judge, goad, or chide.... she just just keeps sending little snippets of wisdom, encouragement, or even sharing something personal that gives me positive things to think about... and creates a safe environment for me to stay quiet and just read until I'm ready to share more. I would recommend her in a heartbeat!
