Kristen Buongiorno, LCSW
About me
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 10 years of diverse clinical experience. I have worked with a multitude of populations including those who experience depression, anxiety, relationship issues, major life changes, illness/cancer, sexual assault, and Veterans issues including combat/MST.
I pride myself in being compassionate and direct with my clients and don't shy away from having those hard conversations with folks. My emphasis is firstly on maintaining safety and developing safety plans for those who need them. I believe that therapy is what you make it and if you come to me with motivation to make changes for yourself I am ready willing and able to help you on your journey. My therapeutic approach is rooted in the connection between our thoughts and behaviors (CBT) and I believe in the use of mindfulness/meditation to help us ground ourselves and the importance of self-care. I believe that therapy is a wholly collaborative process and you are the expert of you. We will work together to develop treatment goals.
I commend you for deciding that you are worthy of better and that its time to make some changes. You/We can do this!
I look forward to meeting you on your journey.

Kristen is a great listener and asks thoughtful, insightful questions to help you reach your own conclusions. Though always diplomatic, she is not afraid to call out the narratives I tell myself that are not serving me and force me to question and engage with them. She’s tremendously helpful, kind, and honest.

I couldn’t have asked for a better match. She is extremely knowledgeable, full of helpful skills to share, very patient and understanding. She has a unique way of putting things into perspective that I found to be a lot easier and more productive than others approaches.

This is my first time doing any sort of therapy and I didn’t know what to expect at all , I was nervous and didn’t think I would like it but Kristen made me feel so comfortable and understood. I’ve received so much insight in the short two weeks since I’ve joined and am so excited about my new path to healing and getting to know myself better than I have ever before.
