About me

I would like to start with congratulating and acknowledging you for taking this first step in achieving a more rewarding and fulfilling life. First steps can be hard to take, especially when it comes to our emotional health. We tend to be embarrassed, uncomfortable, or avoid these concerns. I am a true advocate in self-care as it is crucial for maintaining both our physical and emotional health. I believe you will be glad that you have taken this time to invest in yourself.

My name is Kathleen Brown and I am Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the states of Missouri and Arizona. I am a proud graduate of the George Warren Brown School of Social Work at Washington University. I have over 20 years of clinical experience in the mental health field. My experiences have included working in private practice, inpatient hospitalization, residential treatment, and telephone crisis care. Within these settings, I have provided individual, group, and family therapy. My specializations have included areas of Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar, Abuse/Trauma, and Grief. I have also provided supervision to aspiring mental health professionals who are seeking graduation from both undergraduate and graduate programs along with those meeting requirements for state licensure.

I am an advocate of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy coupled with Strengths Based and Solution Based modalities. Although I have had success with these modalities, I am educated in other modalities and will tailor treatment to be individualized. It would be my honor to help you establish and achieve both realistic and obtainable personal goals. I look forward to working together!

Kathleen is empathetic and very responsive--I didn't expect her to respond to the journal entries I gave her access to, but it's clear she reads them and always has some feedback. I appreciate her ability to pick out things I'm doing "right" and offer suggestions that will help me build stronger coping strategies and skills.

Number one my counselor has been very patient. I'm somewhat a very distrusting person from past hurts and at first I was doubtful that the counseling would be effective. But I knew that I needed to speak to someone for help!. As I'm dealing with covid-19 long haulers to assort not only my side effects of needing support & understanding but other issues that resurfaced as I've been on isolation had caused me to step back and evaluate my life! all in general!. My brain fog of covid causes my words to be jumbled and hard to choose due to having memory lapse during these bad headaches that come along strong! . Kathleen listens intently and keys in with words of encouragement and is helping me cope with these changes in my life that Covid has forced me to change out of my normalcy routine of life!. And not only the side effects of covid but also the emotional aspect which is causing much depression & anxiety . Kathleen sends text messages frequently to check up on me" to ask how I'm doing,?. And to have a good day!. She comforts me by the words expressing that she's praying for me as well as others. And I truly believe that is what's helping me press forward. I know I still have a ways to go! But! Im in hopes to continue on with more counseling. To help me get to a
place of a Healthier Mindset. Ps. I don't mind if this is shared with others if it's going to help and encourage someone out there! praise God!. Thankyou! Bunches!. Laura

Kathleen is patient, considerate, and validating. She always get back to me in a timely manner and has a compassionate heart. She embodies qualities of a wonderful counselor: she never tells you what to do, always listens objectively, and can relate to whatever you are saying. I would highly recommend her!
